The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

It would certainly be nice to at least feel like someone was imminent. Bonus if it’s a priority position.

Seems like it’ll be a month of Sundays before that happens, though.

4 weeks to kick off and to my mind we need at least... (assuming 343)

Wide forward
Back up for Larsen
Right back
Left back

If we're 'going for it' 😂😂 we'd also need

CM
CB
GK

Lots to do...

It’s almost like we’ve been here before…
I'm currently chilled with the situation as it feels as if we have better people making the decisions than in previous years.

I am also aware that Jeff can ruin it all and send us hurtling back to how things were when GO arrived but holding off going into that mad panic...for now.

Life is to short to always be annoyed with a football club.

I think the fact that Vítor was allowed to hire Teti and that Vítor has stated multiple times that he's not here just to fight relegation means that by the time the window closes we'll have spent a significant amount on some real quality.

Only having 1 over the line so far probably has more to do with the restructure than anything else. It was a bad time to do it, Hobbs should've gone months before.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me 10 times etc
No fooling here, we are probably watching the same train accident in slow motion but with different drivers. Impact is still a bit away, so until then feet up and let them get on with it.

The fact Hobbs had 2 players lined up and Vitor binned them off the moment he went adds to that.

All very well thinking that £20m is a great fee for Sa (which it would be!) but there’s the problem of trying to replace him. No direct Cunha/RAN/Semedo replacement anywhere near the building yet so adding Sa to the list would mean that we’re 4 down in nailed on starters from last season.

Have a lot Gk better than Sa.

That gk i say many times on this forum Joan Garcia signed by Barcelona 25M euros.

Greif of Mallorca are like 5M and have better numbers than Joan Garcia, but 28 years old.

It seems like there are two types of transfer in any window.

1) Sign a player early if the player and his club are both on board for sure and don't want to wait because the price is right (release clauses included) or we are a step up/first choice for the player.

2) Sign a player much later on because the player and or his club have been negotiating for bigger fees with us. Or we aren't the player's first choice and are waiting to see if other interest surfaces.

Mendes can sometimes help with the latter by making certain promises to either party.

I fear with decent decision makers on board now, we are targeting higher quality players so most will come into scenario 2 and we'll have to be patient.

It was, but we’d definitely gone beyond the “better late than never” stage and I could easily have imagined we’d have given Hobbs this summer, too.

The timing is what it is; better that it’s done and we can hopefully bring in players who don’t have to get loaned out to the worst top flight in Europe (no offense).

What is it a fortnight till the window closes? Still plenty of time to Jeff it up, it’ll be the usual doing nothing, then a panic on the last day, followed by a we tried to sign whoever/FFP prevented us from signing anyone

I just can't see anyone paying money for Johnstone after his last 2 seasons and what his expected cost and wages probably are. He has the feeling of deadline day no obligation loan to either Norwich or Wrexham to me, partly just to clear him out the building.
