That one will be mid-week earliest IMO. He was apparently having his medical outside of the UK while the Visa etc got sorted. Some chatter around hoping that he'd be involved in the matchday squad for the Stoke game next weekend, but wouldn't expect anything official for a couple of days.

That one seems done. It's all the other positions that we're short in that are concerning me!

There will be absolutely nowhere near the amount of work done on the squad that we all said was required at the end of last season come opening day.

Sure, we might get another 2-3 through the door after Jhon (I’m not convinced we’ll get that many, tbf) - but I reckon there will only be one more guaranteed starter and that’ll be one of the full back positions. Vítor will then be left to get by with Hugo/Rodrigo/Hoever/Lima as the others.

In an ideal world, most wanted a change of goalkeeper, but that’s not going to happen. There’s absolutely no doubt we need a back up to Toti & JSL, but again, Vitor will probably be told to make do with Sasa. We might sign a left footed defender but it won’t be one that bothers the starting 11.

At the moment they are overseeing another window of abject failure and managed decline. They’ll have to have an absolutely stonking couple of weeks to just stand still, when you look at the players who we’ve sold/lost. Let alone to make any improvements.

It’s a shame, but it’s where we are at with Fosun in charge.
