The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Article states we don't want to pay the bug bucks anymore.
Well, it states we have more success in the mid-range market - Andre, Gomes, Agbadou etc

We are certainly not going to be entertaining the mega deals. I am happy with that but not happy that we live in a world where £15m-£25m is not classed as big money. Its a ridiculous amount of money.

I was talking about the wages, but yes. Less on fees too.

So less on fees, less on wages .

Fosun also want to implement a more balanced wage structure, feeling it has become bloated over the last few seasons. Cunha, Semedo and Pablo Sarabia all earned in excess of £110,000 a week last season. Past players including João Moutinho, Raúl Jiménez and Diego Costa have also been paid over £100,000 a week.
While a lucrative offer was made to Semedo in an attempt to make him stay, Wolves ideally want to move away from that level of salary.

What was weird was when we imposed that weird £5-18M range on ourselves. Not paying huge fees is fine and I don't think anyone expects that, leaving ourselves short in multiple positions isn't fine. I'm happy with the 3 deals (assuming we get Arias & Pubill) so far, another 3 or 4 like that a long with a few more outgoings and I'd be very happy with our window, even if it would've been better to get them in earlier.

According to an article on the Athetic today we have the lowest number of homegrown players/highest number of non-qualifying players - we need to get rid of some of the dross like Hwang if we are set on more signings like Pubill.

Wonder what the ceiling will be?

I have a feeling the ceiling will just be on incoming and they will still earn more in a week than i do a year.

Can see the likes of Gomes etc if they stay moving up towards the Semedo numbers on contract renewals

Why are we offering sell on clauses when our model is selling on good players every season as soon as they get on a big clubs radar?
I’d imagine they’ll weigh what they hope to sell for in future and rather than pay it upfront add it into that clause so it’s initially a cheaper deal. Only thing I can think of. Helps for PSR as well I’d assume

Yep, that's the way you'd hope we'll play it.

I'm not sure how often previously we've had these clauses in signings we've made? I know a lot of people were agonising over the specifics of RANs months before he left

So if Pubill happens we need a LWB, CB and at least one CM.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we leave Bueno to be the RAN replacement though so I could see just two more signings.

The reporting is saying

LWB, CM and forward are the priority.

Vitor has chucked in he would like a LCB but that will probably happen once the crap has been moved on.

We need at least one more forward player as well IMO. I think (hope) we'll make 4 more signings, Silva, Hwang, Johnstone & Hoever will leave permanently and Kalajdzic, Chirewa, González & Guedes will leave on loan.
