The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

If this is correct, I'm surprised by how many players are saying 'No' to Wolves!
When we were paying top money per week for 6 or 7 players, does anyone know how our salaries compare with German, Spanish, Portuguese or even Italian clubs?
I mean several players have dreams of playing in the English Premier League, yet when we give them a chance, they say, 'No thanks, Not Wolves!' Why are we seen as such a poor ship to sail on. How are we perceived out in the general marketplace?

Well if those players have done their due diligence they'll not have to dig too deep to see Jeff said "if you want trophies and European success then Wolves arent the club for you"

Our ‘list’ better be the length of War & Peace with the amount we’re being turned down.

No way we were paying the amount mooted anyway, so a bit of a weird link.

Percy drops it, talk of Jorge involvement, next thing the kid tells us to do one...all in a few days

He should have got a fucking good slap for saying that in public, and in his position too!
Fucking idiot.

How many have turned us down?

Pubil - Wanted Atletico
Sanchez - Wants Napoli and they have shown their determination to sign him by dragging it on for about 6 weeks
Abline - Apparently likes free designer handbags and energy drinks over us.

I think there was a midfielder who joined Betis but never anything proper that we actually tried to get him here.

Has there been others? (not inc made up shit stuff from folk desperate to get clicks on SM)

Shi’s “Wolve might not be the club for you” (or whatever the exact words were) feels to me a bit like Gerald Ratner’s “because it’s crap” moment.
Its what happens when using ChatGPT to write your articles

"How do I tell the fans it's a tough job to challenge for trophies in Premier League....oh and throw in some stuff about the Beatles as well"

Something isn't clicking; not sure if it's the market, financial restrictions being placed on the recruitment team, the inherent danger of going for fairly ambitious targets, unattractiveness to players (whether financial or club status/ambition).

Or could be a heady mixture of all those things. Either way, VP currently has pretty meagre tools with which to do a good job

Yeah I think it's all those, especially the 'going for ambitious targets' part.

Stepping away from our own performance as a club in the window, the market is undoubtedly tough.

Glasner was bemoaning not having enough players through the door before the season started this week, Moyes has said that Everton are struggling to bring players in, I’ve listened to a podcast previewing pretty much every club and most of the fans covering them have said that they need to strengthen with more players because they have no depth, outside of the top Six type teams, I’m not sure that any of the clubs at our “level” have actually done nearly as much business as they want/need.

Bit of a perfect storm of shit for us then, and some poor planning from the club going back years means we're more susceptible than most to the effects of a shit window

I understand all that, but how many of those teams have lost their three of their best players?
Brentford have been decimated, but aside from that?
Bournemouth the main one.

Everton's issue is just very low numbers.

Palace expect to lose at least 1 of their 2 main players, definitely 2 if Arsenal push for Eze.

None of the above excuses our position mind but we are not totally adrift in that creek searching for a paddle

We were already worse than those sides prior though
