Can someone please explain how Tom King was selected to be Wales's goalie on the bench last night vs England?

Bearing in mind that,

1. We signed him from a nothing career (!!!) after being sent out and failing on loan by Millwall on multiple occasions followed by about 100 games with Newport, Salford and Northampton. He was released by Northampton!!!
2. He played part of one game in two seasons with Wolves (23-25) and arsed about unprepared and lazy for our Academy. Last season he was our Number 4 goalie and for some bizarre reason played a few minutes in that last match last season.
3. He is signed by Everton on a two year contract!!!
4. He's played nine first team games in the last 2+ seasons.

He's apparently a good lad moving the cones around in training sessions.

I am guessing that him being big mates with that clown Tony Roberts has helped.

I simply don't get it and I guess young Welsh goalies with potential don't exist and /or are pretty pissed off.

The other options behind Karl Darlow are:

Adam Davies (10 games for Sheff Utd since Jan 2022)
Danny Ward (red raw awful for Leicester last season and injured for the rest of the year anyway)
David Harrington (Fleetwood's back up keeper)

Well researched mate!

Jeez, they have big, big problems then.

I must admit though that if Tom King had got on the pitch that would have been one of the saddest but biggest laughs I would ever have had about football.

I see their U21 keeper is our Lewys Benjamin. However he has just had 7 goals shipped past him tonight...

Agbadou started and scored in a 7-0 win against Seychelles.

2:50 on here for his goal.

In fairness the population of Wales is only just over 3m, they don't have a serious domestic league and there are still large parts of the country that don't really play football.

I'd say it would be rare for them to have more than one decent (ie PL level) keeper at any one time, I don't imagine Neville Southall's back ups were very good either.

Big Nev and our very own pair of Paul Jones and Wayne Hennessey have 250 caps between them, that's almost all their goalkeeping since the early 80s.

Thx.

1. Willy Boly and Agbadou having fun for Ivory Coast.

2. Wales goalies post. Yep, That's another good one.

Interestingly those five (Darlow, Ward, Davies, King and Harrington) are the last 5 keepers they've called up and only Ward was born in Wales.

Harrington is a real scraping of the barrel, not only can he not get in Fleetwood's team, he's properly Irish. His Dad is Welsh but he moved to Ireland in the late 80s and never came back, he's still working in Irish football.

What a desperate mess.

When we consider the historic accusations about French and Irish players and their identity, over age Malaysians of different identities as reported recently and players representing countries because of the registered birthplace of one of their grandparents nearly 100 years ago, it all becomes a bit dodgy when fans get misty eyed about national identity and 'our lads' on the pitch fighting or not for the flag.

We actually have an example of the potential for playing for different countries in my family with one member potentially being able to play subject to paperwork for England, Colombia, Germany and Luxembourg. He's nowhere near that level though!

Wolfe played 76 minutes as Norway smashed Israel 5-0 and now in a very strong position to be heading to the World Cup under a certain Stale Solbakken.

I am sure Wolfe can't be as bad as he's looked in his early showings for us.
15 minutes for JSL too. Fair chance he gets a longer run Tuesday so others get rested.
