Wolves Women Thread

We can agree or disagree with their reasons for not applying....but to decide not to do so and then keep the team in the dark is utter bollocks and a disgrace

The team put everything in to getting promoted and just missed out.
Imagine if they had done it....what a fuck you that would be from the "pack"

I mean you don't really need to do a deep dive in to how Wolves Women is run do you?

This is a question about honesty and integrity.

They let Wolves Women believe that they were competing for promotion from the division. They kept them in the dark. They weren't honest with them and were deceitful.

That's the sum of it and as Jeff has put himself in place as to be running the whole show then you have to point the finger at him, don't you...
... and the members of management and the board! He is not alone.

We don't have a board.

Johns Gough and Bowater are there to pay lip service to corporate governance and nothing more. They have absolutely zero say in how the club is run.
100% agree with the reality of what you note.

They clearly offer nothing except lip service in return for access to tickets and the 'glory'. Most Wolves fans IMHO wouldn't even recognise them. Here they are posing as as members of the Board of Directors on our official website:

At the same time, the two lip service door Matts - Hobbs and Wild - must have known about this doing over of the women.

As for honesty and integrity, have a feeling there is a whole lot more to the story so we'll find out in due course. Agreed, at this stage it doesn't look good.
I’m looking forward to keeping tabs on the ‘due course’ timeline. Should be fascinating when the facts come out.

The women’s championship will have on record when all clubs were informed on requirements for promotion. I doubt it was last week.
The club will probably say the message went to spam.
They’ll get away with it because all is good with the men’s first. The women’s season is done so they’ll hope everyone forgets in a week.
All the amateur should walk away in the summer and open the box on what happened.

When will he get a warning for obvious wumming?
Meanwhile the person who only signed up to WUM, who Johnny got banned for saying deserved a smack (I appreciate it was totting up, but still) stopped posting after GON was sacked ...so that was obviously worth it

Let's not get revisionist about Johnny please. He was banned for repeatedly being rude, unpleasant and aggressive in his posting towards MULTIPLE people over an extended time period and continued to do it after receiving bans. He's not some fucking martyr, he got the punishment he deserved long after he deserved it.

Not getting into a Johnny debate, but wumming is tolerated too much in my opinion, the poster that he responded to and the one in this thread being clear examples.

Only just seen this story/thread. For full transparency, i don’t really follow woman’s football. So if I appear ignorant/ill informed then it isn’t deliberate. Apologies if these questions have been answered,

1. Is there a criteria they have to meet to be promoted other than points - like in rugby there was a criteria regarding stadiums
2. Has a reason been given for why they didn’t apply/costs involved
3. I can’t imagine the woman’s team being a huge cost on the club?

Irrelevant of the above points, it just seems like a massive own goal by the club. It stinks of ‘we have a woman’s team however we’re not really arsed about them’ which is totally wrong.

Surely if they weren’t meeting the criteria it wouldn’t be that difficult to meet it? Makes the club just look massively out of touch l, again…

Perhaps Wolves were too busy at the time negotiating the deal with HugglePets.

1. Yes, they needed to make a commitment to reaching these criteria, easily done.
2. The cost was slightly higher than previous years.
3. No, not all.

What is the criteria? And with the cost being slightly higher than previous, I can’t imagine it being huge?

Shi had told the Wolves management but they decided not to tell the players until the end of the season. So the miscommunication was down to them, as they (perhaps understandably) thought it was the best route.

The Athletic article is quite strange. For example:

"The news has raised concerns that Wolves might now lose their best players and coaches this summer. Head of women’s football Jenna Burke-Martin recently handed in her resignation — she is leaving for a role elsewhere — and others might follow suit."

"Time will tell but sources who spoke to The Athletic fear that players and coaching staff will be tempted to leave Wolves."

Yet they also say this.

"But owner Fosun has made no secret of how it views the women’s team as a vehicle for participation rather than a chance to reach elite, full-time football, according to recent conversations The Athletic has held with senior officials."

So, there won't be a fear about losing players. It's our model. To give these players and coaches a chance to participate and they move on if they want, and there probably would be a sense of pride if one of our players went on to play in the WSL or for the Lionesses.

The story here is Wolves don't want to invest in the Women's team. People may feel that should be addressed but it's blown up in the past few days over nothing. The miscommunication was on the Women's management team and our overall supposed lack of investment has been the case for years.
