Sir Jack R.I.P

PumpKing on MolMix has asked the club if the flag can be displayed at Molineux on Saturday.

The initial arrangements for Sir Jack Hayward’s Funeral Service have today been announced, including the opportunity for Wolves supporters and the City of Wolverhampton to pay their respects.

I’d like to once again thank our supporters for the fantastic way they paid tribute to Sir Jack at Saturday’s game versus Blackpool."
Jez Moxey

The Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, 3rd February 2015, at 2.00pm, St Peter’s Collegiate Church in Wolverhampton.

The Funeral Cortege will depart from Molineux before making its way to St Peter’s Collegiate Church in Wolverhampton City Centre.
More details will be announced in due course, including the scheduled timings and route of the cortege.

Although access to the Funeral Service and St Peter’s Collegiate Church will be via invitation only, some seats will be especially set aside for Wolves fans and will be available in advance via a ballot.
Supporters are asked to email fans@wolves.co.uk – with Sir Jack’s Funeral Service in the subject line – and to include their name, address and supporter number.

Arrangements are also underway to ensure fans and well-wishers can view or listen to the service close to the Church. The various main charities that Sir Jack has helped down the years are in the process of being contacted, however, any good cause with a connection to Sir Jack, which would like to send a representative, is asked to email info@wolvescommunitytrust.org.uk.
All requests will be carefully considered.

It will be family flowers only at the Funeral Service and any charity donations should be made to the RAF Benevolent Fund (www.rafbf.org)

Jez Moxey, Wolves Chief Executive said: “In accordance with Sir Jack’s final wishes he is having his funeral service in Wolverhampton, giving his family and loved ones, Wolves supporters, the City of Wolverhampton and his many, many friends and admirers the chance to say goodbye and to pay their respects.

“Although the Funeral Service itself at St Peter’s Collegiate Church will be invitation only and will include Wolves fans via a ballot, we are planning a way for well-wishers and mourners to watch or listen to the service via an audio-visual link close to the Church. “In addition, full details of the route of the Funeral Cortege will be published soon and we hope the timings will ensure that as many people as possible will be able to take time out from work over their lunch breaks to pay their respects.

“On behalf of Sir Jack’s family, and the Club, I’d like to once again thank our supporters for the fantastic way they paid tribute to Sir Jack at Saturday’s game versus Blackpool. “They were superb and they have provided great comfort and support to Sir Jack’s family and loved ones at what is a very difficult time.”

Funeral Details

The Fan Zone will be open from 9:00am until 1:00pm, with Sir Jack’s book of remembrance still available for signing. The Wolves Museum will also be open between these times and will be free on a first come, first served basis (no advance booking) on the day.
• The funeral cortege will depart from the trackside in front of the Billy Wright Stand, Molineux at 1:30pm, with the north side of the Billy Wright Stand open (accessed via Turnstile Block 8 ONLY) to the general public. Gates will open at 12:30pm. The Club hopes as many people as possible will make the trip to see Sir Jack leave Molineux for the final time.
• Prior to exiting Molineux, the funeral cortege will pause to allow people to exit the stadium and to take up a position on Waterloo Road or to head to Queen Square in the City Centre.
• The funeral cortege will then – fittingly - proceed along ‘Jack Hayward Way’ and onto Waterloo Road, before pausing briefly in front of the Billy Wright Stand.
• The funeral cortege will continue along Waterloo Road, across the ring road, before turning left onto Darlington Street, and onto Queen Square towards St Peter’s Collegiate Church.
• The road route of the funeral cortege will be closed whilst the journey to St Peter’s Collegiate Church is underway and the area surrounding Queen Square will be temporarily shut to traffic during the duration of the funeral service. Wolverhampton City Council will be releasing more details in due course.
• A temporary ‘big screen’ will be erected in Queen Square. It will show tribute videos to Sir Jack from 1:00pm, before broadcasting the full funeral service from 2:00pm.
• The majority of the Club’s operations – including the Ticket Office and Molineux Megastore – will close at 1:00pm. The Club’s Dudley Street Store will be open as normal but will close during the funeral service (from 1:30pm until 3:00pm). Those supporters, who wish to do so, will still be able to purchase tickets or products via the Club’s official website: wolves.co.uk.
• The Club’s biggest car park – the Stan Cullis car park - is likely to be very busy from 8:00am onwards, with no other official Wolves car park available around Molineux. However, there are a number of public car parks in Wolverhampton City Centre

Sir Jack given a spot on 'Last Word' Radio 4s obituary programme. Only cover 4 or 5 people each week so some recognition of his life.

(spoilt a bit by raising the family money issues when talking with Jonathan Haywood about his father, but did cover his charity gifts as well as the Wolves connection)

Both FiveLive and Radio WM have reporters at the Funeral.

Trying to follow this on Twitter; it's quite moving at times.

I have nothing but praise for the Express and Star coverage. Some great clips and photographs.

Seeing all the pictures, video clips etc was very moving. Seems the fans helped give Sir Jack the fond farewell he deserved.Gave me goosebumps watching some of it :(

Not sure if I've seen an aerial photo of the stadium and all 4 roofs are covered in I think yellow and white flowers in strips.
It might have been photoshopped, don't know... but 1st I saw it and thought wow! That's some effort!

It seems that Wolverhampton gave Sir Jack a great send off, which he thoroughly deserved.

I have just watched the tribute to Sir Jack on Central News. Excellent viewing, and a great send off for Sir Jack.

Bob Hall's piece was very good. Shame they couldn't have got him in to present the whole show for the night.
