Americanised shite... I really don't like all this "Prom" bollox!
The secondary school here in Northallerton is on two different sites. For the first three years the kids go to the Allertonshire school (years 7, 8 and 9?) after that they move to the "Northallerton College" for years 10 and 11.... The Allertonshire are having a "leavers prom"...WHY?! They ain't leaving school. The kids are under pressure to wear suits/tuxedos/prom dresses at bloody 14! Just fuck off

I was lucky, probably like most thirty somethings on here, when my lads finished school they just came home with their School shirts covered in messages, then up the Chestnut on the evening (as usual)

Oh dear God.

At least I have about 15 years to save up.

Its a bag of toss is this Prom bollocks.

I think, in total the Horse, dress, hair, make up, ticket, spending money will have come to around £800 (thankfully her mother has covered her share)

Fucking hell that is ridiculous.

I had a prom leaving school which was pretty shit, I just wanted to get pissed and we couldn't do that until the 'after party'

At least my lad will be easier to sort out - Suit hire, no doubt they will want a limo. His haircut will cost £9 and if he wants make up he can fuck off.

It kicks in earlier than that - I work in a Primary School & there has been a Year 6 leavers prom for all the local Primary Schools for some years now!

Our school put coaches on from school to the hall so just got my mum to drop me off down there I think some people hired a limo to take them to school though (idiots)

For our Sixth Form one me and the Mrs has a lift off her parents.

That's absolutely ridiculous.

When did this prom bullshit start over here? I hate it with a passion.

I thought school leavers shared a bottle of 20/20 & then vomited a lot?

Been slowly building over the last 5-10 years hasn't it and it will get worse. So basically, when its your turn you will need to sell your house

I remember our school leaving do was held in the school hall with rented tuxedo's and cans of lager. We got a lift of parents or got the bus there. We certainly didn't have any Limo's or carriages!

£800?!! Maybe I'll suggest that we should 'home school' our daughter.

We just wrote on each others shirts, egg and flour bombed the school, then went home to get changed and down the pub. Sod having a prom. Especially if you're going back for A levels.
