I thought he did fine when he came on at LB for Mexico.......although it did concern me a bit that our new striker could only make his country's team in that position.

There is something to it. Wasn't it one of the principles around Ajax total football philosophies, you could play anywhere but we'll put you where your physical attributes make the most sense.

You forgot WJ as a box to box midfielder....

There is something to it. Wasn't it one of the principles around Ajax total football philosophies, you could play anywhere but we'll put you where your physical attributes make the most sense.

The idea behind it is that you don't end up with a week side in your game and you understand all positions and therefore your team mates.

It wasn't so everybody could play in every position.

I think Messi at centre half would be a bit of a disaster.

just really wanted to point out your position isnt static(but not as radical as mine and of course isnt possible in the PL) you can be trained into a wing player to a 10 pretty easily or the other way around..
