When weve gone 4 at the back end of the last few games we’ve looked terrible. Even less effective. It’s clear they have no idea what they are doing in that system so needs work for sure.

If the seasons dead (lose the next two, or even fail to win either and it probably is) then we may as well try something different

I think that's because Bruno when chasing the game is very Nuno. Throw every attacking option on and hope for the best. You'd hope starting the game that way would come with more structure

I don't think we looked less effective, when we had possession we did create a lot more and we didn't really have a proper CF then either, we were really susceptible to fast counters though which culminated in the west ham mauling. Our record was quite similar with both formations last year in terms of win% last year with more goals scored but we conceded loads more aswell.

I was only referencing the last two games.

Under Nuno our best performances came with a 4 for sure. No idea what it was ditched but we went through that over a year ago and it’s irrelevant to now.

If we go 4 at the back our best defence would be:

Semedo - Kilman - Saiss - Jonny

Not sure that would happen though.

I think if Saiss is leaving in the summer it would be worth trying Kilman and Coady for a run of games. Or Boly/Mosquera and Kilman if one of those two could stay fit.

Did Nuno do this? I recall us continuing with 3 at the back in almost every circumstance we were chasing the game, certainly don't remember him going to a four other than against Albion, and mostly it worked well for Nuno, we had a really good record at coming from behind under him.

In fact, he said that there is little point in going to plan B when the players are so well trained in plan A.

I wasn't referring to 4 at the back. I was referring to putting all your forward options on the pitch when chasing a game without too much thought about how and where they are going to play. The one that sticks in the memory was Forest at home in the Championship, we ended the game with Costa, Cav, Bontatini, Mir, MGW and Jota all on the pitch all getting in each others way with Neves and the wing backs off so nobody to supply them.

Was definitely games where he threw wingers on at wingback in order to get more attackers on the pitch.

Funnily enough i think it was the Forest game that he said that in the post match, in that regard i agree. But Bruno does change the shape, Nuno largely didn't. And Nuno had a great record of comebacks, City, Spurs, Southampton, we won 30+ points from losing positions in his 1st & 2nd Prem season i think.

Points from losing positions
21/22* - 3 (19th)
20/21 - 16 (5th)
19/20 - 20 (1st)
18/19 - 14 (3rd)

I don't remember anyone saying the shape changed? Just throwing as many attackers on as possible was the charge.
TT said Bruno is like Nuno in this regard, i don't think he is, as Bruno changes the shape, but Nuno didn't.

In that second season it’s because we kept going behind to shitty goals every bloody week.

If we didn’t have the most points from losing positions we might have got relegated!
