Coronavirus

And, should further proof of the bleedin' obvious be required, here's what one of the few reliable sources of information throughout the pandemic was reporting last night. :(

Thanks, I haven't been as up to date with info recently. Makes you wonder where countries who are trying to go for zero Covid go from here as that just doesn't seem feasible anymore

Well exactly; it's like Cnut trying to hold back the sea. As a nearly-vaxxed nation we can afford to be a bit blasé - just buy some shares in Kleenex and we'll be grand - but I do fear that countries who've relied on a fortress mentality are going to find their defences crumbling with some serious consequences unless they get their vax-act together. And as for the poor sods without access to the jab, perhaps we'll give them our boosters now. (We won't.)

Just my opinion, but I don't think this is anything to get too concerned about (unless you're an anti-vaxxer). Jabbed people we know have been infected and suffered nothing much worse than a heavy cold, even with mild underlying (asthma and diabetes). I shan't be going out of my way to catch it, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over the possibility either. I'm also not convinced that the picture will be quite so black-and-white (well, black, I suppose) as the scientists envisage, but it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Hopefully we can finally end all this stats-based fuckery and put paid to the media's daily dispensation of a Covid-anxiety fix to the great British public.

Slowly creeping up still. At the worst point it was about 400 positive patients (and think we have around 600 beds total, not sure how many were in use of those 600)

-Of all of our COVID patients (3,452), 789 patients have now sadly died
-Inpatient cases with a positive COVID diagnosis: 42
-Patients across critical care: 21, of which 11 have COVID
-The most recent seven-day incident rate for Dudley is 338 per 100,000

Got a horrible feeling it's gonna kick off over the next month. Gavin Williamson already blaming parents in advance...

We enter another wave of pant wetting & fear mongering… as with what others have said previously we should stop publishing daily figures!

Mrs HW caught Covid after having the usual symptoms. . Took LFT test - showed positive.
She has isolated for 10 days. We have to be very careful as I take chemo and have a poor immune system.

She took LFT test again after 10 days - negative. Comes out of isolation. Books PCR test just to confirm all is OK - positive.
She feels OK - just a little tired which is to be expected.

Not sure what to do now. Does she have to isolate for another 10 days or is this just the tail end of illness?
She is isolating again for the moment.

I imagine the Track and Trace helpline will be in touch if she's had a positive PCR. Perhaps seek advice from them. I would say 10 days from the original test as she won't have caught it twice - it's just the PCR is more effective than the LFT

Well Israel is doing well I think they're up to their fourth jab and cannot so much as fart without a full set.
Not entirely clear how effective the vaccine/s are at preventing transmission but its's looking shitty and even more shitty by the varient.
So the knowns after 18 months or so - It's still dangerous to old people and those overweight/comorbidity etc
It appears you cannot do much socialising without the vax for a virus that still appears to have over a 99% survival rate.
Vaxxing the children will be of great benefit won't it.
The winter promises to be the shittiest yet. Hang on in there folks.

I'm with Matt, why didn't those fucking scientists come up with a flu vaccine?

Ironic really that one of the most intelligent footballers of his generation is a thick cunt.

They isolated the influenza virus but not this one yet.
Hardly any reported deaths from Influenza in 2020.
To be fair a flu season without a vaccine could kill upwards 100k a year and when the vaccine failed in 2015 it reached nearly 30k
Not sure he's thick more concerned with getting jabbed to socialise and children targeted as spreaders.
It doesnt all add up .. maybe I am wrong.
