Live Match Discussion 2024/25

Could be bollocks, haven't been arsed to check. But apparently Infantino has a key to open the trophy, the only key, a special key.

These people are shameless.

He gave the key to Trump for safe keeping when he met him to promote the tournament earlier this year.

I haven’t watched a minute of it. Has it been as bad as I keep reading?
No. The media want it to fail so that's the message they are giving out. There have been some decent games so far and the thing that strikes me is that those who do go to games enjoy them. From our point of view, we are looking at it with Premiership eyes and to be honest, a certain amount of aloofness. There might even be some arrogance because we believe we have the best league in the world and some of the clubs taking part are beneath us.

The principle of the tournament is interesting but, of course, how teams are selected to participate seems something of a lottery. We might even suspect some skull duggery because of FIFA's past / present history. As the tournament progresses, I'm pretty sure we'll see even better games as the players certainly seem up for it.

As always in football these days, it is about money. FIFA are happy to be bought and the high ups enjoy the perks of that. Twas ever thus.

If the winner isn’t one of PSG, Real, Bayern or City I’d be very surprised.

I still say there’s value in this for pretty much every club not in Europe. The CAF Champions League pot for the winner is less than half what getting out of the Group Stage here is worth. Shit, as an amateur club, Auckland may have funded themselves for the next two years just pff the back of that 0-10.

There’s something in this, whether it’s properly competitive or not.

There’s value for everyone. The winner will win more than half our annual turnover in prize money. That’s huge

I can't see how the prize money is viable tbh. Nobody gives a fuck so that sponsorship level can't last

There is a direct correlation to Saudi's putting money in to this in order to host a future World Cup. Same thing re: Qatar. Shame Andrew Jennings passed away in 2022.

Messi has been complete and utter wank in the first 40 mins of this Porto v Inter Miami game.

FIFA spin just hit my inbox:
