Loan Watch 2020-2021

I didn't realise Lambert was their manager. He is British at least so that is the first huddle with Lambert.

Don’t think lambert will be there much longer tbf!

Ryan Giles came off the bench again to score against Wayne Rooney's Derby. It's nice that after 18 months without a sponsor they've got another

Played a part in the second, too. That's two goals in about 25 minutes of football for him.

The two goals are from 1:35 onwards:

Sarkic played in a 1-0 defeat to Crewe - was caught out by a wayward clearance from EEL (who'd have thought?) for the goal, which allowed the forward a tap-in. Vinagre played the full game in a 2-0 defeat, too, caught out of position for the first and just kind of, er, jogged back for the second.

From the weekend:

Ryan Giles - Rotherham United, The Championship

Played 66 minutes of a 2-1 win at Derby. Started the move for the winner with a swift pass into the opposition’s box.

Matija Sarkic - Shrewsbury Town, League One

Kept another clean sheet in a 1-0 win at Swindon

Luke Matheson - Ipswich Town, League One

Played a full game of a 2-0 win. Ipswich seem to knock it about well, albeit at League One level, and Matheson received some good reviews. Got forward well at the end to tee up a teammate who hit it wide.

Ruben Vinagre - Famalicao, Portuguese Primeira Liga

Played the full game and picked up a booking in a 2-0 defeat at Benfica.

Rafa Mir - S.D. Huesca, La Liga

90 minutes at home to Madrid lost 2-1. Unlucky not to score after he took a long ball first time on the half volley and crashed it off the bar.

Christian Herc - Karvina, Czech Premier League

Played the full game in a 3-1 win.

Grasshoppers - Swiss Premier League

Gomes played the full game. Ronan and Burr started but were subbed in the second half.Bonatini came on and nearly scored with a header - finished 1-1.

On as sub: Cutrone came on for the last half an hour in a 1-1 draw at Bilbao right before his team grabbed the equaliser, although he had nothing to do with it. Dion Sanderson also came on for the last few minutes for Sunderland.

Not in squad: Jordao, Campana

No game: Pardington, Shabani.

Toti Gomes scores for Grasshoppers. They're 2-1 down at half time though

Sanderson on for Jordan Willis for Sunderland. Seems like Willis has a nasty injury so Sanderson may we'll get more game time now

Ipswich fans seem angry that Lambert has put Chambers back in for Matheson - they are 2-1 down last I checked

Tying the highly in-demand Paul Lambert to a five-year deal looks like a better decision by the minute.

Swapped both his full backs as Wardy who it would be fair to suggest their fans aren't high on is back in aswell

Quite liked this analysis of sunderlands last game, and it included this comment on Sanderson

“Jordan Willis has quite clearly been playing through the pain for some time due to a tendonitis issue. He has looked a shadow of his former self and has needed to be withdrawn for some time now - his injury was inevitable. Dion Sanderson is a more than able deputy and is actually the best defender in the side at progressing the ball at pace within the central vertical third of the pitch. Just play him.”

Vinagre stretchered off with a head injury tonight.

From Twitter -
He left the field to get attention for bleeding following a collision around the 20 minute mark but 10 minutes later went down again and couldn’t continue.

I’ve just watched that. Hopefully he is OK.

It makes me sad and furious watching head injuries dealt with like that.
