Ex-Wolf Watch

Basher, should those of us with a PhD not be permitted to use the prefix "Dr" because "no one has a clue about it"?

I'm not going to be any less proud of our history just because some snot nosed kid hasn't heard of Stan Cullis or Billy Wright.
They won't be a snot nosed kid will they... they'll be 40+ years of age.

If you were 3 in 1986 how would you view Wolves? How would you perceive them amongst the pantheon of greats??

Obviously to you it means everything... to the casual football supporter how do you think they'll view either of those? That's even if they know who they are!

You can call it ignorance but that's how the majority of football fans brought up on Sky will see things.

Forest will only just have appeared on some people's radar, that's just how it is.
You don't have to doff your cap to ignorant people, they might not care but if we'd won those, I'd absolutely wear those stars with pride and fuck anyone else.

What on earth difference does it make when you won stuff, it's in the record books. Personally I care very little who wins the European trophies now, means nothing to me, even the Premier league winners mean little, I'm much more interested when a small team get into the top 3 and when one of the sky 6 struggle at the bottom.

Not doing anything... just highlighting how widely such achievements resonate??

When Wolves chant " you've never won fuck all" to visiting supporters how much do you think Wolves achievements resonate with them?

Do you think they'll know considering that if you count the last meaningful trophy being won in 1980 and you were 20 at the time you'd be 65 now.

There you go then... current achievements mean nothing to you... and that's how past achievements will be viewed by many...

Who cares about the casual supporter?

I was speaking to a 13/14 year old Liverpool supporter last week, if I mentioned Steve Bull to her she wouldn't have a clue who he was. Should we rename our stand so that she's less confused?

Exactly. I'm not sure what your point is.
Every fan should revel in their achievements, whenever they were, but no other fan will give a shit.

That's fine... but you ask someone under a certain age and they won't have a fuckin clue... they look at Forest as though they've just arrived.
If I wasn’t alive for it, it didn’t happen

I guess we can’t talk about Honvéd anymore, either.

If a tree falls in the Forest and nobody was around to hear it did Matt Doherty really let Phillipp Hofmann through on goal to round the keeper on a Tuesday night in 2015?

When Americans say 'i could care less' I'm totally baffled.
Is that an American thing? I always figured it was just a universal English mixup. Like people responding “yes” to “do you mind if…” but they’re actually saying that they don’t.

I wish we had two 'meaningless' European Cup stars on our shirt. Such a strange argument.
When you had to finish top of your home league, That we won in two consecutive seasons, to qualify for a cup where you had to win every game or you went out, non of this playing for a draw in the third game to qualify third in the group to go through

That wasn't the "argument".

The argument was clearly articulated... it was relevance and how much it resonates in the here and now.

And outside of superfans, doctors, and Alan talking about Billy Wright and Honved, which clearly backs up the point, I've not heard much else to bust that argument wide open.

It's means a lot to them, although nearly all of them are living it vicariously, it won't register with anyone else of a certain age.
