Yes but Seamans was at the world cup. Clem just let his soon to be best mate pop one in! That's why Clemence is third. Jennings and Banks were way ahead in that era. If you really wanted a keeper who could have gone further than he did Mervyn Day at west ham. Bloody brilliant at 18 19 20 then went downhill. Joe Corrigan and the other Phil Parke's were good too.

Moving forward Given is a fair shout. As is Seaman to be fair, but then Southall also gets a look in. I was a bit odd with keepers. I loved Paul Cooper at Ipswich. Only 5 ft 9 but a real shot stopper and penalty specialist. Never went higher though. Gary Bailey at Man UTC flattered to deceive after a promising start.

I was tempted by Andy Goram (both of them, etc) in third place. Sensational for a few years.

Joe Hart threatened for a while but has had too much go wrong in the last two years to be considered really, while he should be at his theoretical peak.

Had a think about the sentimental pick of Murray, in terms of talent then I actually do think he could have gone on to be one of the very best. Wouldn't have been at Wolves obviously. Problem is that potential was never realised so I can't do it, he only played two second tier seasons at the end of the day.

David Seaman
Shay Given
Peter Shilton

Would have loved to have included Murray but he made 100 senior appearances. Nowhere near enough. Still - I firmly believe he would have been England's number 1 for years had he not had so many injuries. He could have been the next Schmeichel.

Gonna show my age now:

Given
Seaman

And then I'm stuck as no one else I have genuinely seen deserves a spot so I'll go with Shilton as I've seen clips and he looks pretty awesome.

Ray Clemence
Peter Shilton
David Seaman

In order going by what they won it has to be Ray Clemence with Shilts a close 2nd. I couldn't select Banks because he just didn't play enough top level football after 1970

Jennings
Shilton
Clemence

(Would have been Banks at no 1 if not back to only 1970 as his years were virtually all before that so cannot include him)
