The Goggle Box Thread

Bit of useless information but I see Harewood walking his dog on Oxshott Common fairly regularly. He's got a massive gaff in Queens Drive on the Crown Estate where loads of the footballers live. As far as I know he’s the only one given his a name, tastefully called… ‘Harewood House’.

I know he only played a few games for us but for some reason or other I’m missing the (obvious?) reason he’s hated. Might have to try and strike up a conversation next time..

We were very close to being up when we signed him. All he had to do was try and he was in for the coming PL season.

Debut at Blues and it was the most phoned in 'effort' you will ever see.

He's a wanker.

Thank you, I had no idea. Sometimes things like that slip under the radar when you’re attending sporadically but I always appreciate you guys filling in the gaps.

Didn’t make the connection there ‘til I googled it, then in the scary way the internet sometimes works got punted off in a different direction.

(Given his shameful performances for Wolves, viewer discretion advised)

Looks like I was getting my Harwood’s and Harewood’s mixed up. The Harwood one I thought was his:

But he’s been struggling by in Sandy Lane apparently, which makes sense as it’s across the road from the woods where the dogs get walked. Sold in 2024 too but he’s still about.

Never normally strike up a conversation but might have to make an effort with him.

Adam Curtis is back with a new series, ‘Shifty’, he’s such a brilliant documentary maker.

Watched a couple of episodes of Murder 24/7 tonight. The subject was a bloke in Worcester, Damien Homer, attacked his partner and mother-in-law in March 2024, a drunken domestic that got out of hand. The partner survived but her mom sadly died at the scene. He went down for a minimum of 20 years for murder and attempted murder.

He is a Wolves fan, was wearing a Wolves shirt covered in blood when arrested and had been watching us get battered at Newcastle on TV.

Watched Unforgivable last night, one off Jimmy McGovern drama set in Liverpool with Anna Friel, David Threlfall (Frank Gallagher) and Bobby Schofield (Bonehead from This City Is Ours). Very good drama and excellent acting from all, Schofield plays the sister of Friel and son of Threlfall and is serving prison time for sexually abusing Friel's 12 year old son.

Schofield is a very good actor from the same stable as James Nelson-Joyce, affiliated to Stephen Graham and in this role he is unrecognisable physically and in character to Bonehead

Greg(g) has been out again apologizing and explaining stuff. Including why he was running around with a sock on his cock.

"There were no contestants on set, and just four of my friends from the show outside my dressing room door."

"I was getting changed to go to a black tie event, a charity event. I put my bow tie on and my shirt. It's only them outside the door. I put the sock on, opened the door, went, 'Wahey!' and shut the door again."

"The people interviewed were either amused or bemused. Nobody was distressed."

Started watching Payrick McGoohan in the Prisoner. I remember there being a lot of talk when it first came out and couldn't understand why a show with such a huge cult following was not constantly being rerun.
Now I know why. It is bloody awful! The basic premise is fine and the scripts what you would expect from 60s tv, but the acting is atrocious. McGoohan is miscast with no charisma, no subtlety in his acting, and a permanent need to be angry. He is just a boy playing a man's role. Such a shame.

We're very different, I thought the basic premises and scripts were ludicrous and just tedious. Don't remember much about the acting, it's nearly 60 years ago and I was 10.
What I do remember is being very disappointed, I was a big fan of McGoohans previous show, 'Dangerman' and this was nothing like it.

I very briefly worked with Patrick's cousin. He was not permanently angry.

Prisoner developed a cult following. I never "got it". Often drove past Port Meirion thinking I`ll go there sometime but haven`t made it yet.

We've been to Portmeirion, it's quite interesting for an hour or two if you're in the area.

Does help if you’re a fan of the series or Italianate architecture though

it's a beautiful place imo. Have never seen the prisoner tv series, but absolutely loved having a day out there.
The ship (that isn't a ship but is part of the harbour) still fries my brain. From above could clearly see a ship, then realised by the seafront I was walking on what was the ship!
