The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Did we actually sign him as we couldn’t get a work permit and the deal fell through?
Anyway the reported fee of 1.75m for him and Corica (I’ll have opened up another wound!) is not quite the £25m + wages + not performing that Guedes has cost us.
Hard to believe but it was 29 years ago. Dunno what the conversion to today's market value would be but at least Guedes did play for us and did score a couple of goals. I get that none of us liked his sullen attitude on the pitch or that he ever seemed settled but he's not the villain he's being painted as.

In 'normal' inflation £250k in 1996 is worth about £500k in today's money. Or just over a month of guedes wages

I'm not looking forward to the fanbase whinging that we never gave him a chance whenever he scores a goal in the future.

A couple of goals from how many appearances? Combined with practically zero effort defensively and an objective view would be that his time here has been pathetic. Diego Costa was a washed up pensioner when he came here but at least he tried. Not sure how you define villain but in footballing terms putting no effort in and barely scoring or creating whilst having the demeanour of a miserable twat is a good start.
