The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

In fairness, if you want to see how successful the expectation management of Cunha’s departure is going just listen to the Wolves Fancast. They hate him now, makes us worse as a team. Good riddance. You don’t need to be a genius to work a large % of our fanbase.
I listened to that earlier actually, it was making my ears bleed. They've been like it for a long while on there now. They're going to get a shock next season when we don't have his goals.

However this is Cunha who has caused this, he's been banned for 7 games for absolute moron behaviour and then there is his social media and transfer behaviour.

Some sections of the fanbase have drawn their own conclusions, and with good reason.

You love a conspiracy. :)
Is it a conspiracy or simply recognising that Shi has a track record of lies, distorting of facts and obfuscation? I don't trust anything he says, particularly when it's mailshotted from the usual 2 or 3 journalists at the same time. That's not reporting it's putting out what you've been asked to say.

What has been distorted regarding Cunha though!? Has he not acted the cock several times?

People have drawn their conclusions and opinions on him from Cunha's behaviour, it's really patronising to suggest they've been manipulated like idiots.

I don't see the point in rehashing that conversation as we won't agree. The bit we do is that Cunha or at the very least his representatives was probably being a bit of a dick behind the scenes in January - I think the club leaked that to get ahead of an eventual departure, you don't.

Anyway the post you quoted wasn't referring to Cunha

Son of Dezza I think?

Crystal Palace starlet Jesse Derry is free to speak to interested clubs from next week after rejecting a pro deal at Selhurst Park, with Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig and Atletico Madrid all leading the chase for his signature.

I mean, I find the idea that the E&S is basically Shi’s propaganda peddler a bit… hard to believe, I suppose, but isn’t at all difficult for me to understand why Tony and others might see it that way.

I know it wasn't, It was commenting on your general belief that there is some 4D chess at play and no one else is smart enough to see it.
I'd say on the last comment it's more you than me that's out of step. I think it's pretty transparent as do many others, at least on here

You think what specifically is transparent?

Have the E and S released anything about RAN? Genuine question.

…..and there you have it @Alan. Didn’t want him to go so we’ll let the the fan base know that its the player pushing the move as we were offering him a new deal.

I’m going to keep picking up this straw man: it’s not 4D chess, it’s not elaborate conspiracy, and no one is suggesting it is. It’s really obvious behaviour and it’s incredibly common in the industry. It’s also got a painfully clear logic as to why journalists do it.

The suggestion that fans don't like Cunha because of Liam and Nathan is ridiculous, they don't like him because he's acted the cock. Got himself sent off and been a nob on social media arguing with Dave Azzopardi etc, the club had fuck all to do with that silliness. That's my argument.

I don't believe that the club pushed a narrative back in January to try and make fans dislike a really, really important player when we looked like we would be going down. Trying to turn fans against our best player is not "really obvious behaviour" at all, it's stupid.

I also don't think Shi is a smart man, I think he's an idiot and doesn't know how to manage people or narratives, another reason why i think the Cunha thing is bollocks.

Something I don't think I've ever said and I posted my thoughts way before the sending off or the social media posts. I wasn't going to do this again, but what I did say was that the club leaked that Cunha was unsettled and Judah and Keen took that as license to go in on him knowing there wouldn't be repercussions access wise. From the clubs perspective it's not about 'not liking' it's about conditioning he'll be off which everyone is now accepting without question and have for months

Why didnt the club pull the same trick when Neves, Jota or Neto left?
The fans were already resigned to losing Neves, with Jota we had Traore Podence Neto and at that time Fosun were riding a popularity wave, with Neto I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a nod and a wink between both parties of what would happen.

Well, we must have been near as dammit odds on to be relegated before Xmas when all of this kicked off. We were resigned to losing him there and then surely?. Then the new contract with a relegation clause was the story, then it was just a flat out release clause, in the meantime all of the on and off field silliness started which hasn’t endeared him to the fans.

We have been resigned to losing him one way or another for months.

The Player wants to leave. If people want to endulge in conspiracy theories then that’s up to them, plenty of smoke to make it credible. It’s a bit rich to state that anyone with opposing views have been suckered in by some grand plan though. Arrogant in fact.

None of us really know what goes on behind the scenes.

Wolves have had a £4m offer rejected for Thiago Silvero

Velez are looking to renew the players contract & increase his release clause from €8m to €13m

interesting that Burchnall points out that Cunha can often reflect on his emotional response, and even has regrets.

People are not as one dimensional as some of us think, and I do feel that Cunha has been tainted in the eyes of some by the narrative that now exists in their own minds.

I have loved watching him play - he is exciting, fun, and emotional. Like the game is supposed to be. If he does leave, then whoever gets him will have an amazing talent on their hands
