The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

I can’t believe it’s still being defended. Mind blowing.
Is it being defended?

I would love to know how City do it though Underpaid hugely for RAN and now have an agreement ripped up to pay £13m less than previously agreed for Trafford

It has been.

Buy back clause means they held all the aces (much like us with RAN…) so they are always going to end up on the favourable end of a deal.

Not sure where this view that “City always underpay” has come from. They’ve spent a fortune on Gvardiol, then Nunes and Doku who are shit. A fortune on Marmoush but he seems decent and Gonzalez who they couldn’t get in the team…

Certainly dont always underpay, a couple of deals they have come out smiling though.
Even though they paid a lot for Nunes we still ended up buying Beuno from their group and Doyle with a hefty sell on clause.

If people are defending the RAN deal then not worth any time really. Probably the same group that think our ticket prices are spot on.
We rolled over and let them tickle our bellies then kick us in the bollocks really and I say that as someone who really hates ridiculous amounts of millions being counted as cheap.

City didn't underpay for Trafford, they matched Newcastle's accepted bid which another of their clauses allowed them to do. Trafford has then chosen City over Newcastle.

That answers this bit then

"I would love to know how City do it"

I suppose in the above scenario you hope the player is on our side and doesnt do an Isak on us.

All good reason put to one side, I don’t mind admitting I’m frustrated, rightly or wrongly, with the week ending with no further outgoings or additions. Not least as ones I want to see in the first category keep turning up in club propaganda.
