No. It would be completely illogical for either party to enter a loan with obligation without a contract already negotiated.

Of course a wage would have been agreed, but i'm saying as soon as he banged in 14 goals for us he and his agent would have said that they want a better contract at that point.

Unless you're saying that the trigger for him and his agent pushing for a better contract was Newcastle being interested and not actually the scoring of 14 open play goals in 35 games.

To clarify, what i believe happened is, we agreed a salary when we came to sign JSL on loan, his agent and JSL will have got an improved salary as he exceeded expectations when he came to sign formally after the loan, and he got an increase to 75k (which is fair enough), THEN Newcastle came in, and he got another improved deal which will be somewhere between 75k and the £110k that Newcastle offered.

And that is why it doesn't sit right with me.

However this is football now, and my points about Wolves getting bullied stands, and there is plenty of evidence of it.

He said the injury was 'legitimate' but then claimed Larsen 'probably could have played' if the Newcastle transfer talk and then contract negotiations weren't ongoing for the games against Everton and Newcastle.

I can understand him missing Everton as the window was still open and it might have fucked with his head a bit. I don't agree that it should, but I can get that.

But Newcastle away is a different story. If he could have played, he should have played!

Judah even said 'once that happens (the new contract), or if it's very close to happening, we'll see JSL back in a Wolves shirt very, very quickly'.

It's not unprecedented for players and clubs to seek improved terms after an impressive first season, usually after the transfer window has shut.

It is unprecedented for improved terms months after already improved terms have been agreed.

Don't begrudge JSL getting himself a pay rise. His performances and goals probably mean he's worth more than the initial contract we'll have agreed with him 12 months ago. Where I do have an issue is if he's refused to play against Newcastle when we really could have done with him. Those two same journalists are now reporting he'll be back in the starting 11 as soon as his new big contract has been sorted, but they now apparently "know nothing"? And this is why i'm bothered by it, because i believe that's what has happened. He got improved terms because of a good first season, (what agent worth his salt wouldn't push for that?) then he got further improved terms because of Newcastle's interest. (Again, what agent wouldnt at least try that on?)

So he'll have had a salary whilst he was on loan say approx 30-50k - an improvement on what he was on at Celta
A salary for a good first season upon signing permanently - 75k
And now a new salary between 75k and 110k because of the Newcastle interest.
