Wolves 2- 3 Burnley verdict thread

Just a case of can we make this season a bit more respectful.
VP is just asking to be sacked having Hoever and H Bueno starting as your FB when you’ve bought in 2 players to play there is telling you everything. The signings were not first choice and look more panic purchases.
You can’t polish a turd and that’s what this squad is.

Today was a preview of next season: a Championship quality game with two Championship teams.

Vitor has to go, but in think we are doomed regardless.

That second half performance was a non event after we did so well to get ourselves back into the game first half.

Hoever was abysmal. As was Arias, and Hwang when he came on.

So much dross.

Players like Hugo, Rodrigo, Santi and Munetsi do actually try but are horrifically out of their depth and shouldn't even be playing in this league.

Rodrigo seems a nice lad but he's a big step down from the likes of Neto, all bluster with nothing to show for it.

As JD has said, and we could all see in the summer, our last transfer window was an unmitigated disaster. That's why all the above players are now fixtures in the team

Sky Sports showing some scenes between JSL and VP and the south bank after the game. Difficult to tell if it was an altercation or just a performative apology.

Honestly, I don't even feel sad or angry to these losses anymore, it's just numb resignation to the fact that we're going down.
There are so many issues. In the front of my mind:
  • Is there a weaker (physically) left hand side in the Prem than Hugo and Rodrigo?
  • If we're playing Hugo and Hoever, it surely has to be in a back five, it's so clear those two are not comfortable in a back four, there wasn't even that much defending for them to do today and they're constantly torn whether to stay narrow or push out to stop a pass or cross.
  • Did anyone else notice that Hoever was always in space and our players actively looked as if they just didn't ever want to pass to him? Now, I wouldn't either, he's crap, but as a manager you've got to be aware if that's going on and do something about it sooner (or sort it in training in advance).

There's much more obviously, not sure why these three things are what's got at me today, but oh well!

Bits I saw on social media showing Vitor being dragged away from fans by security, the stress is aging him as wellIMG_3396.jpeg

Fans have been beyond patient with all this, many other clubs you’d have seen protests, banners and far more vocal dissent already.
What will happen is the numbness and apathy will go and the open revolt will kick in.

We're done this season, how confident are we we won't fall through the championship next season?

Hopefully he’ll have some knee jerk reaction to whatever happened with the fans and resign. We don’t seem to be bothered about sacking him.

Shi or Vitor?

Because nothing changes really until it's the former.

I feel a bit sorry for Vitor. Nice guy and genuinely did us a favour last season (much more so than De Burgh did). Probably isn't actually a very good manager but he's been dealt a shocking hand by a moron.

None of the squad we’d be stuck with I’d want at the club next season. Simply they’d look average at championship level.
We will just pad that out again with more average crap from farmers leagues across Europe like we did in the summer of 2016.

I'm probably catastrophising a bit, but I don't see us being able to build a new squad that's any good with any kind of manager who knows what he's doing.

I’m too sad for the club, players, manager, staff and fans to even be bothered about what happens next.
Those halcyon Nuno days feel they never happened and we are back to abject normality again.
There’s no point getting rid of the manager because his replacement won’t make the slightest bit of difference and I always hate to see people lose their jobs in any case, deserved or not.
I just feel sad that it has come to this again and the pride of being in the Premiership is over.
I still think we were unlucky in some respects today.

Can't even be arsed to make a comment. We are a poor team with no discernable tactics. Just dreadful.

Agree with all this.

Definitely the bit about him not being a very good manager.

He’s not.
