Worst player ever

Not having O'Hara. He was absolutely class to begin with if you remember that far back. I remember when we beat Blackpool 4-0 and he was everywhere. I was really excited when we signed him due to some of those first performances. Sure, it all went to pot for him and his attitude at the end was horrific but he did a lot more in a Wolves shirt than a lot of other shit signings ever did.

I'd put Guedes, Gladon, Frankowski, Halford, Johnson all above O'Hara.
Yeah I thought O'Hara was decent in his first season. Didn't he score in one of the wins against WBA?

I would have had the likes of Gorkss, Willian Jose, Meirhofer all ahead of O'Hara but it is AI and it is known to hallucinate.

O'Hara scored at the Crem not long after he signed. Quality free kick.

Vela equalised for them in the last minute.

Edit: That's now nearly 15 years ago too. Where did all that time go

Thank Hennessey for dropping the initial shot before hand. Pleb.

steve claridge - there have been worse players but so frustrating to see how ineffectual he was given he seemed to score loads against us

As others have noted you simply can't beat Ray Hankin.

But, having reminded myself with a search, the following two certainly excelled in being completely useless and out of their depth during the collapse to the 4th division:

Keith Lockhart:
Career highlights:
Cambridge United:
Second Division relegated 1983/84, Third Division relegated 1984/85.
Wolves: Third Division relegated 1985/86.

Note: After leaving Wolves Keith Lockhart’s debut for Hartlepool came against Wolves on 13/12/86. He only played one more game for the Monkey Hangers before dropping in to Non league football.

Cavan Chapman
Career highlights:
Wolves:
Second Division relegated 1984/85.
Stats
Appearances 1.
Goals 0.

Oh dearie, dearie me. Twas very grim in those days.

Gorkss and Willian Jose were loan signings though. Fucking TERRIBLE loan signings but at least we could give the useless lumps back.

Christ I hated Gorkss. Such an awful, awful footballer.

If we're talking bad loan signings, that could be a whole new thread. And I will mention Marlon fucking Harewood.

Nigel Quashie! Did he even play?

Also Jermaine Pennant. Absolutely ineffective at everything

Played 3 lost 3 with Quashie I believe?

Pennant is a great shout. Horrible human being, I hated seeing him in a Wolves shirt.
I was listening to him and O'Hara sneering and taking the piss out of our current woes on The Gameday Phone-In the other week 🤮 🤮 🤮

Roger Hansbury. The poodle permed bastard.

A team of players who were absolutely dross for us. This is off the top of my head but I'm sure Deutsch will offer his opinion after he's finished shouting.

4-4-2 Manager: Dean Saunders

Lonergan

Greg Halford
Gorkss
Jesus Vallejo
Jelle Van damme

Mujangi Bia
David Davis
Lee Evans
Zeli Ismail

Maierhoffer
Frankowski

Not so honorable mentions
Bruno Lage & Glenn Hoddle as manager

Paul Jones, Matt Hill, Ronald Zubar, Willian Jose, Franck Nouble, Jake Cassidy, Roderick Miranda, Superstar Fabio Silva & Bassong

Just a thought & to throw some names long forgotten into the hat.

So many shudders reading some of these.

Think it's a little harsh on David and Evans though, I think there have definitely been worse than those. Joe Hodge and Eggert Jonsson to name two!

Van Damme was a decent footballer, just didn't like living away from his wife and kid
I'm going off what he did for us, no argument he was a decent footballer. In that team I've laid out he'd probably be top scorer.

It was off the top of my head. No arguments about Joe Hodge & Eggert being bad.

Tongo Doumbia - decent on loan, so wouldn’t get in that team, but went to shit as soon as we signed him permanently.
Do I remember correctly that was a weird one where we had a buy clause agreed and triggered it really early when there was no reason not to wait?
