All of a sudden quite a big game. Not in terms of points but performance.

I'm not going to even try and predict the line up for this one as it could be anything. Do we stick or twist?

All I know is that regardless of how we send the team out against Fulham the application needs to be better than it was tonight. Play against any Premier League team with the same horrible combination of nervousness and lethargy that we did against West Ham and we'll be beat 10 times out of 10.

Hoping that Nélson, Marçal & Podence are fit for this one.

Need to change things up, assuming no Marcal:

Rui
Donk - Coady - Boly
Hoever - Neves - Semedo
Vitinha - Moutinho
Podence/Neto- Raul

I’d rather not play Moutinho, but there’s no one else.

Sorry mate. Awful team.

Rui

Donk Coady Boly

Semedo Vinny. Neves Vinagre

Traore Raul Neto

Go out and attack.

Saïss could still play in midfield, but understand why you'd drop him altogether after today.

I've long said that 352 is the best formation for this team, if we can find the AM to suit it. Unfortunately we've now flogged one of the forwards who plays best in it though.

I think you have to move Boly over to see whether it is a serious form issue or just a preference to play on the other side. An in form Boly on one side and an adequate Donck on the other is better than the current Saiss and Boly combination. If he still seems out of sorts then it's time for him to be dropped. If we are to sign one more player then I hope it's a centre half

The problem is we need Dendoncker in midfield, and that's whether we play 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 and we have nobody else I'd play over Saiss at CB so we probably need to buy one.

I would like to see Donk come back in (he should never have been dropped after Sheffield Utd). The debate is whether that's as part of a midfield two in place of Moutinho, or as the right sided defender in the back three with Boly moving across to the left again. Personally he comes in to midfield and that shows up the lack of squad depth again because if Boly moves across there is no one else to come in to RCB unless we throw Hoever in there.

Currently we have no other option at LWB so that means persisting with Vinagre who doesn't really offer us anything going forward and isn't particularly good at defending either. Cannot wait to get Marcal back in there to firm things up and to add a bit of experience. Hopefully Podence is fit, because he helps link play up with the midfield and Raul so much better than anyone else.

We couldn't ask for a kinder fixture on paper to bounce back from last nights thrashing, so hopefully Nuno works his magic on the system and the players come back refocused and ready to put things right.

There a championship AM who seems to be nailing down the ability to run, pass, break the lines and attack quickly..

He’d have one quiet game and everyone would write him off

If he was here, Nuno wouldn't play him. The loan will do him the world of good

Yes agree too.

Left field suggestion - we need to move Boly across to LCB, we still own our previous RCB; a phoenix like return for Bennett?

Much rather play Donck there

And stick with the existing 2 in CM? That should not be an option.

It won't happen, but there's a strong argument it should even if it's a one off to protect Coady from Mitrovic. Fulham won't need reminding about what he does to him, but what Antonio did last night game me flashbacks

Hopefully both Podence and Marcal are both fit for this.

I disagree. As I keep saying, one poor performance in there together doesn't mean that midfield isn't an option. They are two high quality footballers, who have proven they can play in this system + together.

If we keep the same back three, which I had some concerns about, I could see Donck alongside one of them. The beauty of it is we have good options. I can see us going back to a similar starting line up that played against Sheffield United, to be fair (if Podence is fit).

I don't think it is never an option, but its clear they are not playing well together at the moment, whereas Donk was superb with Moutinho against Utd - might not be his primary game but he can get forward and back quickly, so makes the system work better.
