The last season comparison is a red herring, the seeing the game out isn't though. We've panicked in the last couple of weeks and not just on the goals, both Sheff Utd and Burnley had other chances. Ultimately I don't think we cope well with the old chuck it in the mixer ball, which these days you don't usually get until a team chases the game. There's not a real route one side in the PL this year after Cardiff went.

Isn't that supposed to be one of the advantages of playing 3 at the back. We have 3 big guys who between them should be able to win almost every ball in the air. Doc not being close enough to Woods should not matter, neither should Jonny not blocking Egan properly.

To be fair if you watch the goal back it's Boly most at fault. He's ball watching twice and gets caught in no mans land, if he's where he should be he heads it away and Doc doesn't even need to try and challenge.

Doherty shouldn't be closer, it's Boly's man. Coady is not a big man at the back, he's not there to win headers. In fact more often than not he plays poorly when a target man pulls onto him. Wood/Barnes against Burnley this year, Mitrovic a couple of times previously. Abraham surprisingly against Chelsea

So maybe my question should have been - what has happened to Boly? We get clean sheets when he plays well, but Arsenal game something was wrong and he hasn't recovered.

I think he just does this. There’s a reason he doesn’t/hasn’t played at the very top level at the age of 29 despite having all the attributes to do so.

Has that lack on concentration in him or makes a bad decision.

This sums it up for me. On his day probably in the top 5 centre backs in the league but has too many games where he loses concentration and it does cost us. I would say because of how good he is at his best he's overrated by most of our fans.

It's exactly that concentration that has made me guess at how successful he'd be in a back four.

He could be great, but he leaves just enough room for doubt.

Man City away in the league also (not that it changed the result). Good few in Europe: Crusaders at home, Pyunik away, Besiktas away and Bratislava at home.

I'd describe him as looking a bit languid rather than lazy. Think he was not as good as his usual imperious self versus Arsenal and Sheffield, bit better since but he's class so expect him to put things right sooner rather than later
