The Goggle Box Thread

He presented a year or so back whilst Nick Hewer was off the show

Murray should have got the gig full time instead of Robinson. It was only box ticking nonsense that he didn't.

Bit of a let down wasnt it?
I was disappointed
Your aspirations for a TV show must considerably exceed mine if you thought of that as a let down. Thought it ended brilliantly as indeed the whole series was.

Loved Ruth as a character, no one can tell someone to 'go f#£k yourself' quite like her!

Thought Ozark got better and better as it went on and had no problem with the ending.

Currently revisiting Breaking Bad as Better Call Saul is now firmly in that territory. Miles better second time round and watching them in parallel works brilliantly.

Yeah, I've enjoyed it too, if not Mandalorian good.
Can't say I'm looking forward to the return of Hayden Christensen though, could've recast him with an actual actor...

I'll finish watching it but too much of it just grated on me.

  • The two foot chases with Leia (one with Flea and the other two kidnappers then one with Obi Wan) were fucking dreadful. They were like play chases between parents and kids where you actively move out of the way and fall over stuff on purpose to make it look like you can't catch them.
  • The chase over the roof was even worse, Obi Wan had been down on the floor for ages yet the Jedi Hunter was still running over rooftops and doing somersaults for absolutely no apparent reason whatsoever.
  • The Jedi who fled the tavern in episode one to get away from the Jedi Hunters, did he actually think dropping two red curtains was actually going to stop anybody catching him? Moreso, why did they stop chasing him because of two red curtains?
  • Rupert Friend is a pretty good actor, why kill him off so fucking quick?? And why have him leave himself wide open to a mutiny that was more obvious than his oversized Dre Beats?

None of those are really spoilers but hey ho. I suppose the end to episode two sort of saved it but for the most part I thought it was just cringeworthy.

It has it faults, yeah, and your first part of your first point was definitely a bit shit.
For me this is one of the least hotly anticipated releases, so expectations were relatively low which is maybe why I didn't mind it so much.

Prehistoric planet on Apple TV is amazing. Genuinely looks like any other nature programme.

I didn't even know it was coming out until about three weeks ago and the trailer looked ace so I was really looking forward to it. I never finished BOBF as I didn't think it matched up to The Mandalorian so I'll have to go back and try and finish it but Obi Wan definitely has the same sort of feel. It's all great stuff for kids don't get me wrong but certain elements just seem extremely poor.

Reckon Mandalorian is worth watching if you've only ever seen bits of SW or should I really be giving SW a go first?

It’s pretty stand alone so fine to watch. That said Star Wars is better so I’d just watch that.
