Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

For sure, but you are ignoring the fact that the UK was pulled out by the Establishment to protect dirty money in The City and places like Gibraltar. I haven't heard of any other EU member state's money dealers squealing so much about the post 2012 controls in places like Frankfurt, Milan, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam.
PS The UK Establishment has been pulling a similar tantrum with Hong Kong returning to Chinese jurisdiction.

You will find the same response in France, Germany and many other places about their countries. The world has changed
You might be surprised. Nothing changes.

I have just read an article in History Today about VE day. I summarise...

People were not celebrating outside Leicester Square.
They despised all politician's.
They weren't looking forward to the future.
Even though Labour won the election, nobody was very enthused.

There is a lot of nonsense in the media about VE day backed up by a couple of photos.
It seems most people spent a quite night at home and went to work the next day,

80 years on....we are still in the same situation.
People do not like or trust politicians.

The UK was pulled out, because people voted to leave the EU.
Italy and France have a higher percentage of corruption than the UK and the UK and Germany will be pretty similar.

The benefit was always going to be, we vote for people who make the decisions, in the EU, we were tied to decisions that were imposed on us. It was always about democracy for me and always will be.
Sorry Walshes, that is complete and utter gullible and simplistic nonsense you have swallowed hook, line and sinker.

You could say that about Wolverhampton Council, The West Midlands version, the lack of an English regional or ´national´ government as in Wales and Scotland, and at UK level with the wretched Houses of Parliament first past the post system and the house of ´Lords and Ladies´.

Furthermore, the UK has no formal Constitution and it is one of only TWO countries with reserved places for members of the state religion. The other is Iran. To finish that you could also add the riotously undemocratic roles of the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church which is headquartered in a foreign state and to which many UK citizens owe their first allegiance. i could also never vote on aspects of Jewish or Sharia law as implemented in some parts of the UK where I have lived either.

As for making democratic decisions when the royal family has to be consulted/negotiated with BEFORE, DURING and AFTER any law is put through parliament.....

And, this is the country that most people cannot name properly and which has attacked more countries than any other in human history, at 171 out of around 200. I guess we were democratically elected to invade them.

I won´t bother to comment further on the role and tools of the Establishment in guiding us into submission.

`We vote for people who make the decisions, we were tied to decisions that were imposed on us`.

Sadly, that is a completely laughable statement from someone who can write well and should know better.

I speak as a UK ´subject´ not ´citizen´ who was not allowed to vote in that wretched Brexit process.

Come on Walshes, think about it rather than churn out stuff like you have today. :)

The Establishment did everything to stop Brexit, as did the majority of our politicians. Now thankfully the major parties are behind Brexit, because they are only interested in getting elected.

Funny how random things pop into your mind, reading this thread this week has had me thinking of journeyman Irish darts pro Brendan Dolan. But I can't think why.

They are “behind brexit” because there is no point going back. The reason for that is that we won’t have the veto, we’ll be told we have to switch to the euro and we’ll be a lesser country, crawling back with our tails between our legs

Oh dear.
You can drag a thirsty horse to drink water from a lake but if it doesn´t want to drink...
Good night!
PS You do know that ´democracy´ is as foreign as our royal family? 😉

If the majority of politicians wanted to stop Brexit, why didn’t they stop it or come to a better outcome, when Parliament as was gridlocked in 2019?

Or basically never start the process, being as it wasn't a legally binding vote.

There was never any deadline on us invoking Article 50, but Theresa May, blithering idiot that she is (and I can't believe she was being partly defended elsewhere on here the other day) decided to steam ahead AND slam down a load of conditions meaning it could only ever be shit.

No party would get in to power, which says there will be another referendum on rejoining the EU in it's manifesto. . Labour would lose many more seats than they gain and are only in power because they convinced the electorate that Labour would not have another referendum.
It is a different world now, than 2016. The UK has moved on and the EU are coming to terms, that they don't count at the negotiating table, for important world events. It is no good telling people what to do if you can't back it up and unfortunately for the EU, without the US protecting it, EU expansionism in the East of Europe is finished and indeed, you are more likely in the future to see Eastern European countries go back towards Russia, than more Eastern European countries join the EU.
Trump, as vile as he certainly is, made the EU face the truth, to be important, you have to be a military superpower and the EU is seen as weak by the other superpowers.
I hope the EU continues, but by continuously interfering in national elections, it is making more enemies than friends. Trying to suppress parties that are opposed to EU idealism, instead of listening to the concern of it's citizens, opposed to EU idealism is only going to end up one way.

The EU don't count at the negotiating table!? The worlds largest trading block?

No they don't. Unfortunately, military might supersedes political idealism. Being the biggest trading block, but depending on China for resources and the US for military protection, was always going to end up in failure.

Oh dear and just to tease as your last point can happen at every level in society:

1. ´The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is 18 local authorities, including Birmingham City Council and four Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) including Greater Birmingham & Solihull LEP, working together to move powers from Whitehall to the West Midlands. Individual councils will still deliver services and retain their identity, but on the big decisions the WMCA will have the resources to work together.´

Source: https://www.birmingham.gov.uk/info/...ent/932/west_midlands_combined_authority_wmca

My tease based on your comment about the EU layer in representation and government:

´I hope the WMCA continues, but by continuously interfering in local council elections, it is making more enemies than friends. Trying to suppress parties that are opposed to WMCA idealism, instead of listening to the concern of its citizens, opposed to WMCA idealism is only going to end up one way.´

You could also swap the ´EU´ and ´WMCA´ with ´The Mayor for the West Midlands, Richard Parker´.

2. Alternatively, and on a different level:

´I hope the UK continues, but by continuously interfering in national elections, it is making more enemies than friends. Trying to suppress parties that are opposed to UK idealism, instead of listening to the concern of its citizens, opposed to UK idealism is only going to end up one way.´

;);)
