Fulham (A) Build up

He's barely 20! He might go out on loan but he's not dead weight just yet!

I knew I wasn't going to make it as a Premier League player long before I turned 20, you can't just wait indefinitely for something to happen, not everyone has the potential to grow.

Bright isn't exactly Joe Schmoe. How quickly his performances early this season and then against the likes of Manchester City are forgotten.

That's the best game I've ever seen from him and the highlights were one early through ball and a couple of times running down Mangala, let's not forget it was blunted by some wasteful finishing, as is often the case with Bright.

When that is very much the high water mark of his career then it's pretty fanciful to be thinking it's only a matter of time before he explodes into something special.

While I think our fans can be more than a bit cuntish towards Bright, he is never, ever going to eclipse any of Cavaleiro, Jota or Costa - and this is before we even consider throwing a specialist striker into the mix. And you're tripping if you think we won't sign better and better players as we go along.

Very little chance of him becoming an established player here now. He'll make a decent career, how decent is down to him. Doubt it'll be at Wolves though.

I think it's way too soon to declare his ship sailed.

Cav and Costa are 24, Jota is 21. If Bright (20) has achieved what they have and become the player(s) that they are by those respective ages then fair play to him. I don't see it happening though.

He might make the same kind of career that Sam Winnall has and will make. Whereas I'd be astonished if Jota doesn't end up back in the Champions League within three years (and it probably won't be with us either), and the other two will easily be top flight players.

How is he going to overtake them, let alone anyone else we bring in...

Unfortunately I too think Bright has had his chance, still think he can make it, just don't think it will be with Wolves. My biggest current concern is Mir, already being written off although he's had hardly any game time, I didn't think we needed to bring in Afobe and I would have preferred Mir to be given more of a chance, he may turn out to be garbage but to dismiss him after such a short time is very short sighted imo

I'm an optimist! I don't think he'll do a Jota but Cav and Costa weren't exactly lighting up the world at 20 years old, either.

Well, at 21 Cav got a loan move to Deportivo and then a year later at 22 moved to Monaco for €15m :icon_lol: He'd played for every single age group for Portugal all the way through from U17s as well.

Let's see if Bright gets those kind of moves.

I also think Bright is done here. While I'm someone who is generally cautious about letting young players go to early, e.g wish something could have happened for McAlinden!
Bright has so many good traits, but from what I've seen of him this season, he's never making the most of what he has with poor decisions and vision.
I think he can forge a career for himself, possibly to a high level, but I just don't see it here with us. It'll require a lot of hard work and patience, something we can't really offer. He needs to go somewhere where he will play week-in-week out with little danger of being dropped. After both Swansea games, I just don't feel confident that he's going to do anything of note other than a cute little dribble here and there when he gets the ball anymore.

I think it's well known that I love Cav so I mean it seriously when I say that his moves to Deportivo and Monaco were far from successful.

Assuming promotion he needs a season away at a middling Championship club which will make or break him. Personally I don't think he'll ever live up to the potential some people think he has, but a season with the opportunity to play week in week out will show whether his lack of match intelligence is an experience thing or not. My bet is he'll still look like a playground footballer in a years time.

Mir is no where near good enough for where we want to be and as he’s not even making the bench I guess this is the opinion of the club too.

I’m not really sure why we signed him.

Like I said its harsh to dismiss him with the small amount he's played but if he is deemed not good enough even for the bench why the hell did we buy him, disappointing if we bought a lemon especially as all our other imports have been excellent.

It’s a bit weird that we spent the first half of the season ‘needing’ another striker as Leo was so important, then got 2 in January and are now playing without a striker

I think there is a number of potential answers or combinations of answers to that:
-He's not as good as we thought and bought a dud
-He was always seen as a rough diamond and one for the future with the correct coaching
-We didn't expect to sign Afobe so thought he'd get more minutes
-We now aren't starting with a number 9 we were when he was signed so we need one less forward now than then.
-It was a favour to Jorge, we haven't done him one so far this season.

Bright might make a reasonable Championship player. But only in a Mendez-Laing sort of way. He'll probably have to drop to League One then come back up with a team.

Yeah, I’ve found that very random too...

We’ve never played with a striker though really.
