The Football News Thread 2017/18 - everything not Wolves

a guy at work is a bluenose, and I initially thought he could've broken the rule that all bluenoses are fucking belmers (but has since proven himself to be a cunt and re-enforce the rule) was moaning the other day that getting rid of arry was the last straw for him!
Can't wait to see him tomorrow...

Fiorentina captain and current Italian international defender Davide Astori has been found dead in a hotel room aged 31 :icon_sad:

Astori became a father just 2 weeks ago and died in his sleep. Tragic.

RIP

Unbelievable. I just saw this on fb.

Sky are scraping the barrel a bit here, using the psychologist who was on Big Brother :sarcastic-chairbang

Fiorentina have given Davide Astori a lifetime contract, and the money will go to his wife and daughter. Fantastic gesture by them

Is that true? Saw a lot about this on Twitter this morning but it was quickly confirmed as fake.

Was sent a twitter link by a friend about half an hour ago. Hadn't heard anything about it earlier though so you may be right.

Astori's death now being treated as suspected foul play.

Nah, just the Italians and their weird legal system (like how in Portugal the police can publicly accuse anyone they like of anything they want).

It'll end up being a simple tragedy that no-one could have prevented.

Isn't that a standard stage in the process in Italy when a death is unexplained?

Dunno for sure. Here's the quote I saw.

"We have opened criminal proceedings with the hypothesis of manslaughter, currently against unknown individuals, and we have requested an autopsy," De Nicolo said, according to the Italian news agency ANSA.

Seems he was about to sign a new 4 year deal and they are going to honour that and pay his wages for the duration of that. The fake story was the club saying they would basically pay his wages forever (oddly phrased as paying his wages for life, which makes no sense)

When things don't work out as you plan and you end up with one club's kit in another club's stadium, even if they're both clubs you support.
