The Goggle Box Thread

Maybe a different one then but there is one fairly recently where he is stood on Castle Walk

Just switched bbc on for the news headlines and they’ve got Toploader on instead.
I’m writing in to Points of View and to the director general to demand a licence fee rebate.

Just watched the documentary commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Bradford fire disaster featuring survivors and relatives recounting their memories of that tragic day.

Very interesting programme but so sad hearing the stories of those who experienced it.

I've just watched this and it's heartbreaking. The speed the fire spreads is absolutely terrifying.

It's also a miracle it didn't happen anywhere else before this tragedy.

What's in on mate?

It did happen a few times as mentioned in the documentary - Brentford and Norwich are 2 I remember them saying but I think the difference was that they didn't happen during a match with supporters in attendance. I certainly couldn't remember any of the others they mentioned

ITV also have a six part documentary. A couple of episodes on their YouTube channel. Presume the rest can be found on their ITV Player

I did Fire Marshal training at work last year and we had to watch a clip of the fire as part of the training.

Like you said, it is terrifying how quickly it gets out of control. Every one seems to realise far too late just how serious it is.

Don Goodman talks about the Bradford disaster on the Wolfwhistle podcast (apologies if I've mentioned this before). He was playing that day and if I remember rightly he got tickets for a couple of girls who didn't make it home tragically.
He also mentions it on the Undr The Cosh podcast - he was on that a few years back.

It was his ex girlfriend. Micky Holmes was also in the stand as a none selected squad player

I did Fire Marshall training at WMFS years ago and we were always shown the video too

At the start of the incident when there is clearly a fire underneath the stand everyone is just stood there watching the flames, with the benefit of hindsight you are shouting for them all to get the hell out while they can. The documentary said this was part of human nature, to watch disaster unfolding assuming somebody will be along to resolve the issue

There’s a couple of YouTube videos, one is the match footage in real time with the commentary ( assume for editing down later for highlights) its four minutes from a wisp of smoke to the full inferno.
The other one is police radio transmissions, you’ve got a copper telling his boss we’ve a fire get the fire brigade, about a minute later he’s asking does anyone know where the keys for the gates are? The emergency exits are locked, about a minute later the police are asking how long the fire brigade will be? The reply is we haven’t called them yet, just about to

Giving Eurovision a go tonight as never really bothered with it before

I'll take mildly entertaining (used to it with Wolves ay :D)

It's incredibly camp, there's some utter trash in there, the voting makes no sense (even less so with the public vote these days) and it goes on way too long.

Of course I love it.

We may not finish last this year, unless everyone hates us more than Israel
