The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

For context: about to start our 8th PL season in a row, made around £100m of sales in the summer, lost in Cunha, Semedo, Sarabia, now Guedes what must have been 4 of our biggest wages

Bench is vile just ample loads of average Joes or youngsters still to prove themselves.
Even with another RWB, CF & CM we’ve basically got 12-13 PL level players. The rest are just stop gaps.
Personally I think it’s very hard to get excited about this squad as it stands.

It's fucking stark when you see it written down.

You'd think Arias will be a good acquisition given his form over the summer and age/experience, we just have to hope the other two are effective. Difficult to say until we see them competitively.

Unless Lopez is a bit of a revelation from the start, you'd say Arias is carrying almost all the creative burden there, with the way we set up.

Losing RAN, Cunha and probably the Munetsi/JSL link-up worries me in terms of where and how we're getting the goals

Saw this on the mix , doesn't look good in this format , we can only hope....

So this is where we are with 11 days until Man City. Happy or not?

IN
Fer Lopez
Jhon Arias
David Moller Wolfe

OUT
Cunha
Ait Nouri
Guedes
Semedo
Dawson
Sarabia
Chiquinho
Meupiyou
Hodge
Campbell
Doyle (loan)
Traore (loan)
Djiga (loan)

Forbs has also left but he wasnt our player anyway.
That's half a successful transfer window there - save for the first 11 starters, I don't give a shit about any of those players who've left, and the club has done well in shifting out the dead wood.

Of course we need plenty of incomings still (still nearly a month left in the window, after all), but spare me the people performatively wailing about lower squad numbers because we've shifted out Guedes and Hodge.

I'm worried about how games progress for us, it happened last season but it'll be worse this season.

As you say our first 11 or so is good, but as they tire or VP wants to make tactical changes or counter opponents changes, we have very little on the bench to effect games, where as opponents will have.

Being able to bring on 5 subs should be such an advantage, but Wolves haven't grasped that at all since it came in, the drop off to our bench is significant.

Yours is the only performative post today

Let’s be honest. Hoever isn’t particularly good enough to be a back up in the PL. He’d be alright for the odd 5-10 minutes here and there, but if someone gets injured or suspended you wouldn’t want him starting games because he’s way below the quality required - and at the moment, he’s going to start against Manchester City in the premier league in under 2 weeks.

The same can be said for most/all areas of the squad - if someone gets injured, or knackered, or suspended, or booked - whoever we bring in to replace them is going to be a hideous drop off in quality.

They’ve completed fucked another window and left the manager without the tools to do his job. The lack of urgency to strengthen is alarming.

I still find it utterly baffling as to why we were so happy to sell RAN so quickly for so little.
Oh that’s easy. We’ve sold him & Cunha so we can get our own incoming business done early. That’s what we were told if you remember?

(Under two weeks ‘til City and we don’t have a right back or any sort of squad depth what-so-ever)

Dude. Come on. It's August 6th. I share a few of your concerns but you can't say the window has been fucked up until it's over.
Based on the state of the squad with our first game in less than two weeks, I can confidently say they’ve fucked it up (again). Absolutely no way we get the number of signings over the line required, but I admire your optimism, I really do.

It's pretty awful when you look at the back ups.

You should have your business done by GD1 any signings afterwards should be to cover gaps noticed early on
