Things that make you SAD thread.

this was my school vicar/RE teacher. @UKYankieWWFC did you ever suspect anything?
He left whilst I was at that school.
Never suspected a thing, and never heard any rumours either. Indeed he seemed nice, but I guess that's how predators have to shape their behaviour.
I read this at work on Thursday/Friday of last week
Indeed Father Eddie was our school vicar, didn't suspect a thing, like you never heard a rumour either. I'm guessing the time frame mentioned would be round the time we were there...

exactly that!

I think my old school vicar at St Bart’s got done for having child pornography on the church computer.

Edit: I just googled him and the charges were dropped as there was insufficient evidence.

Woke up to the news that my best friend in Oz (been mates since 1980) has passed as a result of an asbestos related disease. To think I was having a beer with him some twelve months ago.

He was a couple of years younger than me and was diagnosed with the respiratory disease in December 2022. He was admitted into hospital last September with pneumonia and had remained there on ventilation up until he died.

Me and a couple of mates went to see our pal in Haywood hospital yesterday, his mental and physical rehab continues after his fall/stroke/brain injury. Took the wind out of our sailsa bit when his missus wheeled him in to see us, started shouting "it's shit, it's shit, its fucking shit" He calmed down though and we a good chat with him. He's really frustrated, just wants to go home and eat proper food.

On a side note we had dinner at a greasy spoon on the way just by Port Vale ground... Burslem is a bit 'challenged' isn't it?

This was going to go in the annoyed thread, but I've put it here because it's making me sad at myself that it's annoying me

There's a lad at work (in Nuneaton) that's not a football fan. Bit weird obviously but I've made my peace with it. But since the FA Cup draw you'd think he's the love child of Peter Ndlovu and Phil Babb*. It's been incessant. I know it's harmless and he's just trying to be bantsy but it's grinding my gears so much. Like bruh I *know* you've just had to google to throw Ellis Simms' name at me, and you don't understand the play offs. Just stop, nobody is getting anything out of it. Obviously I'm playing along out of politeness like but I feel like I'm really cheapening myself, my club, and the rich history of the FA Cup by doing so. Ickkkkk

*It's really hard to think of a player that just "is" Coventry City. What a weird thing.

Keepers don't count, they're not really footballers. That's like saying the drummer or bassist is the most talented or famous member of a band

Cyrille Regis for me, but that's becuase I'm too young to remember him at WBA

I'd just have a bit of fun with him, mention previous Coventry stars, big up their chances and make out we're punching above our weight currently and the wheels are falling off due to having no forward players.

Ian Wallace in the brown strip or Keith Houchen because of the Cup Final goal. Obviously Jimmy Hill was Mr Coventry but before my time

George Curtis for the older generation, played for them and was joint Manager when they won the FA Cup.
