Wolves Loan Watch 2025/2026

Doyle only on the bench for Birmingham's third biggest club.
It always amuses me that the self-proclaimed "Black Country club" of our good friends down the A41 had half their ground in Birmingham City Council's domain for many years. And that's without discussing that it's well inside the Birmingham functional area too, and not that of the Black Country.

Birmingham post code, Birmingham phone number, loads of fans from Smethwick which is Birmingham.

Case closed your honour.

I don't know what he's thinking if he's planning on using Doyle as a #10. Just no

It's like putting Simon Osborn there. He has pretty much none of the required attributes.

But Dan I think you’re forgetting that he came up through City’s academy and is therefore the Superior Footballer™

Pep looked at him once for God’s sake! You can’t coach that.

Djiga sent off for foul as the last man. Not sure there was much it in but any kind of contact on the forward will see them go down. Something he learns from hopefully

The rules?

From last weekend (and some mid-week)

Nasser Djiga - Rangers (SPL)

Played full game in the second-leg 1-1 draw at Panathinaikos. The result put Rangers into the next qualifying round (Viktoria Plzen) and he played two full games in that tie, too, helping them to a 4-2 win on aggregate. They face Club Brugge in the play-offs next.

In the league, he played the full game in their league opener, a 1-1 draw at Motherwell. Playing RCB in a back four, he earned praise from fans online for his pace and positioning.

However, he only went and got sent off in the following game, another 1-1 draw, this time at home to Dundee. He got caught out high up the pitch and clipped the legs of the forward to get a straight red on 65 minutes.

Tommy Doyle - Birmingham City (Championship)
Started the campaign with just 13 minutes at home to Ipswich in a 1-1 draw.¡

Made the first XI for the 2-1 EFL Cup win at home to Sheff Utd. Played 67 minutes in a no.10 role against his former side.

Nigel Lonwijk - Luton Town (League One)
Made his league debut with 67 minutes at LWB for Luton in their 1-0 win at home to AFC Wimbledon.
Was benched for their next game, a 2-0 win at Peterborough, but came on in the second half in which they scored both goals. Seemed to have switched sides to, er, RWB.

He also came on as a second-half sub in a 1-0 League Cup defeat at Coventry, but at least seemed to be in his preferred CB position.

James Storer - Greenock Morton (Scottish Championship)
Helped Greenock Morton through to the knockouts of the Scottish League Cup by keeping two clean sheets in three games in the tournament’s group stage.

He followed this up with another shutout on his league debut, a 0-0 at home to Dunfermline. In this, he pulled off a string of great saves, the highlight being this one from a free kick. Next, he helped his side earn a 1-1 draw at Partick.

Arthur Nasta - Hornchurch FC (National League South)
Made his debut in a 3-2 home win vs Weston SM.

No game: Traore

From this weekend:

Nasser Djiga - Rangers (SPL)

Played the full game of a 4-2 League Cup win at home to Alloa (his suspension is just for the league). Lost the ball in the opposition's half for the first and stayed down while Alloa broke away and scored.

Boubacar Traore - FC Metz (Ligue 1)
Made his debut at home to Strasbourg. Subbed off in the 85 minute then they conceded the winner a couple of minutes later.

Nigel Lonwijk - Luton Town (League One)
Started this game (at LWB again) but only lasted til half-time as Luton lost 2-1 at newly-promoted Bradford.

James Storer - Greenock Morton (Scottish Championship)
Played as Greenock lost 3-0 at home to Aberdeen in the League Cup. Got distracted by the forward for the 1st (a corner routine) but not much he could do about the other two. Also made a fine double save later on.

Arthur Nasta - Hornchurch FC (National League South)
Played in a 2-1 win at Eastbourne.

On as sub: Doyle played the last 10 minutes for Blues in their 2-1 win at Blackburn as Blues got both goals in stoppage time.

Nasser starting for Rangers at Ibrox Vs Club Brugge tonight. Carlos Forbs starting for Brugge.

Absolute stinker from Djiga/Butland there. Leave the Brugge forward clean through to chip in. 0-1.

0-2.

Completely unmarked from a corner. Ibrox is going to be horrible now.
