Keep all the financial implosion stuff here... Langers said so

There probably won't be any developments for a little while. Wyness is suspended and they'll go through due process there, whatever it is he's supposed to have done. Oddball Tone can't afford to employ a new CEO even if he wanted to, so it's his show and he'll be lying low for a while in all likelihood. They've reached some kind of an agreement with HMRC for now, and the next lot of payroll isn't due for over three weeks.

Some low key sales to follow - looks like Gollini has gone for around €4m, which helps them a tiny amount with both FFP and cashflow assuming Atalanta are paying up front. There's probably a deal set up for Carles Gil too, but it won't be for much. Reports are that Elmohamady, Jedinak and Whelan have been transfer listed which is all well and good, but none of them are likely to attract a fee, no-one in the Premier League will want any of them and very few other Championship clubs are going to want to pay them the same as they're on now.

Any big news this month (unless our Twitter loving friend decides to go crazy, and you never know) is likely to be one of the following:

1) Grealish/Chester for going below market value
2) Bruce leaving - I don't know why Leeds would want him, but that is the word today

They're in a serious mess, but they're set for a more tranquil week or two than this one has been. In all likelihood that is. We don't know what they've been up to, if you'd asked me a week ago if they'd been likely to have cashed in future transfer revenues in advance, called for an advance on parachute money, would be failing to meet bills, would be looking at selling pockets of land around Villa Park, I'd have said no. But now we know that all that actually did happen.

Getting compo from Leeds for Bruce rather than having to pay him to go away could be a godsend for them as well.

Everything still looks very very grim, but they might just be able to avoid admin for now, if they sell Grealish and Chester. I think a bet on them to be heading for League 1 looks decent value. Their kids aren't ready and their squad is going to be emasculated. At least they will still exist though.

Thread sub-heading - Xia Heart Attack

I can see why Leeds would want Bruce.
Villa will want him to go for a number of reasons - They will get a few £ in compo and he will go back to Villa and take the likes of Whelan off them

If/when Bruce goes it will clear the way for the return of their former hero

Leeds were looking at Bielsa it seemed, it's a hell of a jump from him to Steve fucking Bruce. It's like thinking Anthony Hopkins is your leading man and then thinking actually no, let's go for Will Mellor instead.

Or Patrick Stewart to Danny Dyer.

McLeish is busy. It does raise an interesting question though. If Leeds did do Villa the huge favour of relieving them of a massively overrated manager and gave them some compensation (which they can't spend anywhere other than shoring up the short term cash flow), who on earth do they employ? Who would go there when it is clearly a financial disaster area and there will be no budget at all? They are going to struggle to employ anybody even vaguely decent.

Mick would actually be ideal for them. Expert in building a squad that's fit for purpose out of nothing. Free as well.

They won't take him though.

I suggested Mick to a Villa fan I know down the pub. He looked at me like I'd shit in his pint.

Some prick on VT saying they should sign Wilshere and Hart.

WTF???

Do you know what liquidation would mean you fucking melt?

I've seen an article today in which it claimed Villa wouldn't take a penny under £40 million for Grealish!

They'll be getting £0 and 0 pennies in that case.

Wait until they have to pay the wages again and it might make the cogs turn a little quicker in their collective mind. They'll still be on the hook for another month of Hutton, Samba, Agbonlahor, Terry, Bunn and anyone else who is out of contract.

I think they released/planted the figure to try and push his price up. The FFP/admin issues will have taken a fair few million off his price tag.

They will be lucky to get £15m plus add-ons. That's about the value, before you consider a distress sale.

Similar record the Helder would put him around the 13-15 bracket, plus the "English markup", I reckon puts him at around 18-22 million, however the impending fire sale will see his value towards the bottom end of that figure IMO.
