Summer 2021 transfer window

Anyone saying "Bruno Lage is definitely better than Nuno" is on the Kool-Aid, because it's not true.
Is anyone saying that, anywhere?

I still say there was a chance Nuno could have stayed but he would have to agree to things he wouldn't be happy with and that is where the mutual consent stuff is coming from.

One of them being no longer have the final say on some, if not all, deals

i just hope we now get enough quality transfers in to make the new guy's job as easy as possible

I don't think it's always as simple as 'Nuno is better than Bruno' (which at this point in time is obviously the case).

The idea of 'Nuno' is not an absolute. The Nuno at Wolves in May 2021 is not the same one that hit the heights earlier in his tenure, and the team isn't the same either. It could be that he was exhausted, had peaked (with us), relationships had broken down a little in the club etc

That's why there's no point wishing him back because the Nuno we loved had changed and maybe was never coming back (like most of us I'd have preferred to wait a little longer to see if that was the case, but not to be).

Now, whether Bruno is good enough is a different matter entirely, clearly there are big question marks over him but the club and Mendes obviously see something there to believe he can take the club forward, unless you believe the Jorge is the devil narrative and this is the beginning of the end

That Klopp bloke must be a shit manager. His team , last seasons runaway champions won 5 drew 3 and lost 9 from January to March 2021.And they played some bang average teams in that run.
You can make stats say what you like. Liverpool are in the champions league again. Recovered some real form. Wolves in 2021 never had proper runs of playing really well. We ground out most of our wins or beat 10 men coming from behind. Nuno was great for us , but his time is over and its someone elses turn to steer the ship. Give him the chance and start this thread again in October. We are just going round and round now.

Plus this “bad run” is still being spouted. Seperated by 3 months in a Pandemic kind of loses some of its validity, the fact two of the losses were to Porto and Braga isn’t that crazy, and then 4 draws could easily be shit refs decisions and strikers missing open goals. It really isn’t a big sample is not. I’ve said all this before though.

Also factor the apparent downing of tools and trouble In the boardroom.

I’m just willing to give him time.

I've seen a fair few managers in my time supporting the club - some good (or v good), some average or a little above, some below that and some that should never have their names mentioned.

Have no influence in who comes in, but will support till I can see what whoever it is does. Suspect that Fosun will not take long to decide whether it is working.

If it's Lage - then clearly not much love around, though Nuno endeared himself by his character rather than just the football over the last few months (there were reasons for some of that, but it wasn't moving us upwards)

People need to calm down(I know ironically from me), managers come and go in cycles. Nuno has done more than great for us but I think we need to try another path now..if Lage is right/wrong choice I dont know, but Im willing to give him a chance..also did like most of Jeff's answers on facebook that he has to stay calm and not react on social media, forums and some poor games..thought it was a solid and sound thing to say. Just give the guy a chance, he is a manager that wanna succeed, like all of them.

The failure to see what is going on is quite stupid.

Hopefully it's me that proves to be that person

Managing a football club isn't a game of Top Trumps, with objective figures showing how good or bad a manager you are. Nuno's been a tremendous manager for us, and absolutely nothing will take that away, but this season's been total swill, and a large chunk of that has to come down to the manager, the tactics, and the players he used. 2017-2020 Nuno I'd have happily seen manage the club forever, but to be frank, he's looked absolutely lost for over a year now, and the idea of getting more of the same going forwards is a toe-curling one. I'd liked to have seen him given another shot to see if he could get the old mojo back, but I don't at all blame Fosun for thinking otherwise- to be frank, it's only really sentiment that saw him last this season just gone.

Saying that Lage's going to take us down based solely off his track record is every single bit as ludicrous as saying that he's going to be better than Nuno, I'm sorry. A team coming a cropper over ten-fifteen games (with a significant amount occurring during the pandemic) does not in any way imply some Saunders-esque imbecile, any more than the romp to the title in the previous season makes him an era-defining, god-given talent.

Again taking 1/2 posters statements rather than engaging with the wide debate. Lage should be the appointment that takes us to the next level, that's the conversation

Well, there is this "if he's rubbish, Fosun will get rid quickly" thing. Yeah, great. Maybe don't appoint him if he's shit? I don't really like us having to constantly swap managers, we're not Watford.

Lage is in no way suitable for us, no matter how often we get blind faith "trust Fosun" messages or someone who doesn't support Wolves laughs at the situation. I wouldn't have wanted him in 2016, I don't want him now. I'm not going to lie and say "yeah, great stuff" when he gets the job, it's a fucking dreadful appointment on so many levels.

I wish you and Paddy hadn't said he'll take us down to be honest. It's become a lightning rod for the unswerving belief crew

If when appointing a manager it is widely talked about that he can be replaced if he isn’t up to the job it strikes me that the person isn’t the best person for the job. As an example. I’m no particular fan of Benitez but if he was to get the job we wouldn’t be having these conversations.

Yes and he might, he might not. Let’s just wait and see. There’s not really much evidence he will be good either way, same as there wasn’t much evidence Neto would be.

Mark Warburton was a nobody and had had a pretty decent managerial career in the most part and plays decent football with shit players. Ancelloti is a massive name, spent loads of money and done no better with Everton than BFS, Bruce or Whoever would have done.

“Experience” is overrated. We’re the same group of fans who were criticising the “championship experience” bullshit. Maybe he’s a great coach and he just hasn’t had that opportunity.
