Just to pull this away from the main Corona thread.

I personally think that in such troubling times - totally unprecedented in our lifetimes - we all need to pull together. This is when money and "value" goes out of the window, you help your fellow man out.

I have already offered to sort out free help for kids studying French and/or German. I'll do this on a purely bespoke basis on what the individual child needs and responds to. No dry textbook crap because let's face it, you can get that online without me doing anything. I don't want anything for it, as I mentioned in that thread, if you feel compelled to pay money then chuck it at a local foodbank (preferably in the Wolverhampton/Codsall area) because there are plenty of people worse off than me.

Beyond that I am willing to speak to anyone who is feeling isolated or worried about the situation. PMs on here, open dialogue on the board, give me your number and I'll call you/WhatsApp you, whatever. I might not have all the answers but I'm willing to listen. I'm a nice enough guy, just ask the people on here. Actually don't :)

I'm also going to be writing more regularly so at least Wolves fans have something to read. Again, you don't have to pay for this. It's free.

If anyone has any skills, crafts or even goods they're willing to offer up, stick them in here. Every man for himself doesn't work at a time like this. We need a community and for society to function. If we fight this together, we have more of a chance.

Think of it as the antidote to the wankers buying 272 bags of pasta - show you're better than them.

Great idea DW, I don't really have any appropriate skills but I'll do anything in my power to help anyone that needs it

Excellent idea DW. Not sure I have much to offer, but if anyone is stuck for things to watch on TV let me know - I can connect you to my Plex Server which has quite a bit of TV and Films.

Also happy to help any parents with Maths or Physics to help you explain to kids - been a while since I taught, but I can still remember a bit. And if anyone has a burning need to learn about AI and the water industry let me know :)

Nice idea Dan.

Likewise, don’t hesitate to message me on any platform if someone just wants a chat. I’ve not really worked from home before so it’s been weird this week but I’ve definitely been helped by talking to others in the same situation.

I’m not sure what appropriate skills I have to offer like Sycophantia mentioned, but I’m sure I could bore people to do death talking rubbish about football (like I already do on here I imagine)

I can mend bikes, which might come in handy if it goes full mad max and petrol stations close,or if they allow that as essential transport or you just want to self isolate on a bike.

Good call Deutsch - any skills I had have started to degrade or go out of date since I retired so not sure that I will be of massive help, but am here (mostly) if anyone needs to talk as where else am I going.

Always found the 'Advice' thread helpful as there was usually someone in this community who knew much more than you did on any query - so maybe questions on here, but specifically relating to this issue.

Deutsch if things get too bad you can start teaching me German, but that would be the wurst case scenario :)

For anyone not aware GCSE's aren't graded alphabetically anymore they are numbers. I'm sure with Deutsch's help your child could get a Nein

If anyone would like some PDFs of slow cooker recipes then PM with your email address

My new t-shirt

'Id rather be a Dumm·kopf than have a throaty cough'

Forgot to add earlier,I can also bore people about bike touring in Eastern Europe and Chernobyl

Any chance next week when everyone is delirious ?

DW, if things get really bad, you can always try to teach me propa English and gramma :)

Is it possible to conduct a virtual RL pre-match pint and chat using whatsapp?...dont know how we'd make that work. I've used zoom at work and its quite cool being able to see everyone and just talk bollocks for a bit...

I don't know what skills I have to make such a difference. Happy to counsel if required. Happy to help organise. My best skill is logistics. Getting people to do the right thing and follow a stand walk run approach which may be of use in these dark times.

I'm similar Cyber. I can't see any of my skill set being helpful just now, so I have to concentrate on maybe looking after the family and keeping them going and anything that comes out of that I guess.

You can both help by talking to people if required.

I've spent a decade working on my own so I'm grand. Millions of people won't be used to this and there'll be plenty on here in that boat.

The smallest thing might help someone more than you can imagine.

I'm a bit of a hermit, and tend to avoid social occasions if possible. Not because I don't like the people, but because I'm lazy and can't be arsed, plus would rather just stay at home. So I'm used to being on my own any way.

I once had a week off work and never left the house! So this current situation is just fine with me. I'm still at work any way so nothing has changed for me other than the pool and snooker leagues being suspended.

If anyone wants to talk to me about absolutely anything, feel free to msg me and I'll send my number. Any subject is fine although pretty much everybody on here knows more about football, but if anybody wants to chat about Hill Walking, motorcycling, IOM TT, or if you just want to rant thats all good

Never knew you were an IOM TT fan, lived on the island from 1995 to 2000, loved the racing weeks, the bikers that came over to watch were fantastic, great people and were always respectful to the locals and to the island.
