Welcome to Wolves Ki-Jana Hoever

He wouldn’t have been ahead of Buur at this point anyway (IMO).

As Sam said, physically he’s got a lot of development in him. U23s for a few months is a good place for him IMO and then a decent loan move after January

I'd rather he just go out on loan if he's not with the first team. U23 football is a joke and does nothing to prepare players for what football is actually like.

I would want him to go on loan too but as a 17 year old who is still studying I’d rather give him time to settle first. I’d be surprised if he went on loan this window

Fully understand that and obviously his education and him being settled are important but i do feel going from playing more than 15 games at league 1 standard to the under 23's will be a backwards step for him. If he's in and around the first team i get it and that's ok for a short period but don't feel he should be playing with the 23's.

I'd want Matheson spending as much time as possible with our coaching staff, not Rochdale's or whoever. He's had minutes under his belt, he's had the experience of mens football. Now get him into our academy and really work on his game, make him a better player.

He has got minutes under his belt, he has experience and he's also proven he's good enough for that. He's always stood out for Rochdale and if he stays here he needs to be training with the first team, he'll get nothing from training/playing under 23's football as it's a disgrace. Austin Samuels is still playing for us and looking a threat at that level yet struggled to get a game for Kiddie which sums it up.

All due respect to Rochdale and their ilk but they don't have the quality coaches that we do here. He'll learn far more at Compton than he will being kicked around Spotland on a Tuesday night.

He hasn't had the footballing education that players who come from Academies of wealthy clubs do. He spends time in our academy and training with the first team and he could gain the skillset to become a Premier League player, he goes back to League 1 and all he learns is more of how to be a League 1 player.

He's got this far due to those coaches and his ability to do what they ask and beyond. Training with the first team yes, training with our academy will do absolutely nothing at this moment in time, he's already better than that. Sometimes being at those wealthy clubs doesn't guarantee that you get a better footballing education, you should do but that's not always the case and it's definitely been the case with our academy although it is getting better. Now i know Nuno likes players being around the squad and isn't a fan of players going out on loan but sometimes there is just no substitute for first team football especially as the alternate option which is under 23's is so sub standard.

He'll get plenty of opportunities in these first few months to train with the 1st team I reckon. Just don't think he'll be near the actual matchday squad.

I am excited that we have him though, just think he will be a later developer.
