You'd be better off with some original bonk bread

I'd like to be able to open my mouth, tbh.

I've hit the £400 target required to officially take part in the Velo! Cheers everyone who's donated, it's hugely appreciated and really rather humbling.

Please continue to share, donate and encourage - it all helps massively :D

Good luck today for your lad PLF!

Good luck PlFs eldest! Donated and gift aided for another good cause

Good luck today for your lad PLF!

I hope your lad has a good day PLF.

Thanks for the good wishes (got a text off him at 3.30am to say he was just getting ready to leave for the start at the QE Olympic Park) - & Cyber grateful for the donation though didn't put the link up to elicit any seeing as how none of you know him (and indeed we have not met either)

It is a good cause though - the NHS doctors, surgeons & nurses were superb in dealing with the immediate medical issues, but aren't geared up or funded to help enough with the longer term rehab/recovery needs of people who have suffered brain injuries. This charity is highly specialised & have done wonders in helping Claire back to full health & function.

Cheers - hadn't realised that this was on

Caught up with them on Ranmore Common - weird to be able to recognise places that I have been so many times (without loads of cyclists though) as lived round there for many years

Worthwhile watch - so many roads I have driven/walked up on show.

With the route they took (same for the 'amateurs earlier) my youngest could have waved at his brother as he went past his bedroom window

Notes to self:
1. Don't leave it almost an entire week without cycling or exercising of any kind! All sorts of knee and shoulder pains back on the bike today.
2. Maybe check the front axle is fully tightened before setting out next time, thus avoiding riding the first 7 miles with the front brake disc rubbing against the pads!
Anyway, managed to get 42 miles in this morning with a fair bit of elevation (2000+ ft), including climbing Wightwick Bank for the first time.

No room for complacency from hereon-in. I need to make sure I'm getting out regularly on the bike, and when I'm not doing some strengthening exercises and stretches to help with posture.

Oh and for the nerds, I upgraded to some Continental GP4000S 28mm tyres fairly recently. Fucking brilliant. They roll so well, are super comfy and I swear they feel quicker than my old 25s. Hard to tell when the rider is so inconsistent though :icon_lol:

Also thinking of going for an 11-32 cassette on the back. SHould take the sting out of some of the really tough gradients that have seen me bail mid-climb. Can get one for £30 on Wiggle at the moment, which seems pretty good value.

Reminds me of when I had a front axle ticking sound that I tried to solves by banging the front wheel into the ground whilst riding. Only to find when I stopped the quick release was coming loose!

:icon_lol: Pretty much the same situation, only there's no quick release on the thru-axle (thankfully, I guess!?). Something to do with increased rigidity to support the stopping power of the brake discs without warping the forks.
