Loan Watch 2024/2025

Nobody else is paying him £80k a week, we have him until his contract is done

Time to test if he is good at FIFA or something, then he can pop off with Jeff

Played 78 minutes of their win at home to Espanyol. Booked. LP up to 13th now.

Played the full game of a 3-0 defeat at PSV. Lost his man for the headed second. Now 10 points behind PSV at the top.

Marvin Kaleta - Motherwell, Scottish Premiership

Chem Campbell - Reading, League One

From yesterday:

Nigel Lonwijk - Huddersfield, League One

An update from the last week or so:

Nigel Lonwijk - Huddersfield, League One

Played in a 1-1 draw at home to Burton. It was a bit of sloppy play from him that gave the ball away and led to Burton's goal.

Chem Campbell - Reading, League One

Played two full games, both wins: 2-1 at home to Mansfield and 3-1 at Cambridge. Was unlucky not to get the assist for the winner in the first game after heading the ball across goal which deflected off a defender before being volleyed in. Also showed some decent skill down the right for the second vs Cambridge: his cross wasn't cleared and his teammate put it away. Reading up to fifth now.

Marvin Kaleta - Motherwell, Scottish Premiership

Played 81 minutes of a 2-2 draw at home to Rangers. It his hopeful ball into the box that wasn't cleared and allowed Motherwell to go 2-0 up.

On as sub: Chirewa came on after 74 minutes for Derby in their 1-0 defeat at home to Leeds then was an unused sub for yesterday's game. Joe Hodge finally got some action with a 15-minute cameo in Huddersfield's game.

Chem doesn’t get the assist there? That’s fucking lame. I thought for sure the defensive touch had to be deemed “intentional” (granted, that’s pretty murky in and of itself) for it to nullify the offensive action. Sucks, ay.

Anywho, cheers for the updates as always, @Sedgley Wolf.

Nope, not according to Transfermarkt or Livescore, however trustworthy they are! Could have done with it as well, hasn't scored or assisted since November despite playing virtually every minute in a team with plenty of goals in it.

Chem Campbell's loan runs out tomorrow. Reading want him to stay but it might come down to whether the EFL let them do it, they're still under all manner of sanctions due to having a terrible owner.

He has made 19 appearances from what I just checked. Maybe it's just my bias but feel like we often mess up loans like this by trying to push them on somewhere else rather than staying with the stability where it's working for them.

Get this might be out our hands but hope he can continue there.

We've definitely messed it up multiple times in the recent past. Giles, Sanderson and Cundle for sure.

Cundle was moving him the manager wasn't it.
Did well at Plymouth and Schumacher wanted him at Stoke so agreed to move him.

Oh yeah, but we should have seen that Stoke was a bin fire, whoever the manager was. We already had Hoever there.

Nuno calling MGW back in 2021 and then barely using him was just plain weird, one of very few black marks against him (also not using Vitinha and that shit team he put out in the cup vs Southampton when the league season was obviously dead)

We really need to stop sending our best youngsters to shitty clubs in the arse end of Europe and stick to British clubs. Even if they have to play National League.

A weekend update:

Nigel Lonwijk and Joe Hodge- Huddersfield Town, League One

Nige played just four minutes before getting injured with a suspected hamstring pull. Joe Hodge made his first start since October though and played 64 minutes of their goalless draw at home to Rotherham.

Ki-Jana Hoever - Auxerre, Ligue 1

Played 74 minutes of a 3-1 defeat at Strasbourg. Started well enough, breaking down the right to put a cross in that bobbled around a little before being put away, but then Auxerre fell apart.

Fabio Silva - Las Palmas, La Liga

Played 75 minutes of a 4-0 cup defeat at Elche from the league below.

Marvin Kaleta - Motherwell, SPL

Played the full game in a 2-0 win at home to Aberdeen.

On as sub: Chirewa came on for the last half an hour of Derby's 1-0 defeat at Bristol City, while Chiquinho played the last 15 minutes of Mallorca's shock 3-0 cup defeat at fourth-tier Pontevedra, the rough equivalent to Walsall turning over Bournemouth in terms of standings, although PV are semi-pro so there's a bigger quality gap.

Not in squad: Campbell
