Loan Watch 2024/2025

National League loans are like broken pencils.

In all seriousness I'd like to see him have gone higher, it's only one level above the one we signed him from 2 years ago. Presumably that's the level we had interest from, which probably tells you where he's at

Shocking level to loan him to. He looks talented. I suppose he *might* play every week which is better than nothing.

Just playing every week, even against cloggers, will help his development.

A L1/L2 loan might be better in theory but if he ended up sat on the bench all the time then it wouldn't be any use to us or him.

Ollie Tipton is there and Stears is on the coaching staff

I didn't realise he's 20 already, I thought he was much younger. Oh well, hope he ends up with a career somewhere

He will do well lower down the leagues.

Still annoyed he never got a shout last year during the great striker shortage. He already had experience of dealing with clogging CB's and probably would have offered something in the Coventry game.

100% agree

He couldn't have been any worse.

Chem Campbell's loan runs out tomorrow. Reading want him to stay but it might come down to whether the EFL let them do it, they're still under all manner of sanctions due to having a terrible owner.
This is sorted now

Update from the weekend:

Fabio Silva - Las Palmas, La Liga

Played 80 minutes of a 2-1 defeat at home to Getafe and missed a penalty - and also the chance to gesture at his own fans and point to the back of his shirt. First away win of the season for Getafe.

Jimmy Storer - Chester City, National League North
Made his debut a couple of tiers higher than his last match in a win at Buxton. Didn't start great, giving away and conceding penalty plus one more in the first half an hour. His team mates bailed him, though, and they went on to win 4-2 and leapfrog Buxton into the play-off positions.

On as sub: Marvin Kaleta came on for the second half of Motherwell's 3-1 defeat at Hibs on the left side rather his usual right.

Unused sub: Hoever, Chiquinho,

Not in squad: Campbell (injured, but signed to stay on loan until the end of the season https://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/2025/january/10/chem-campbell-re-sign/)

Game called off: Lonwijk, Hodge, Roberts, Amos, Carson

Fabio no goal in five after scoring at Barca, not that I'm going to suggest he's knocked a few in early season and it's gone to his head by Christmas but....

For literally what purpose, to remind them he's not David Silva?

That, and also to continue his theatrics from his time at Rangers.

Holman on the bench tonight for Solihull Moors with ex-wolves midfielder Ben Stevenson who played exactly 0 first team games for us
