Might be reading too much into this but has the Home Secretary been involved in instructing officers to arrest people at the scene?

LBC Journalist Charlotte Lynch was arrested yesterday whilst reporting at the scene of a just stop oil protest yesterday. She was observing from a bridge, showed the police her press card and was compliant in answering all of the officer questions. They then proceeded to handcuff her, confiscate her phone, put her in a van and then put her in the cell for 5 hours without allowing her to contact anyone regarding her whereabouts. Apparently LBC reported her as being missing at one stage as they couldn't contact her.

Edit - others arrested too.

On Monday, Hertfordshire police arrested Rich Felgate, a documentary maker, and Tom Bowles, a photographer, also while covering protests on the M25.

The Met concluded that a team photo, Xmas hats, buffet, drinks and a complete lack of social distancing wasn't evidence enough to rule that this gathering was against the Covid rules of the time.
A relief to one person in the photo as now his path to the Lords can't be held up by having a fixed penalty notice against his name. Surely if the the event was so innocent and certainly not against any rules then the chair of the London assembly’s police and crime committee didn't have any reason to stand down from his position?

He could get rid of her now and it wouldn't bring the Government down. Electorally they are pretty much doomed at the moment and even the knuckles know that the country wouldn't stand another change of leader without an election. They also know if one was called now then they could be kissing goodbye to 150 of their colleagues.
