Cicada Symphony Season™!

Less cool: the Eastern Cicada Killer. Incredibly non-aggressive relative to the most common wasp around here (bastard Yellowjackets) but horrifying to behold; the females look like what you might imagine a hummingbird possessed by Satan to be. Fucking massive things with stingers that look absolutely brutal. Really unsettling motherfuckers despite their reputation amongst entomologists as the "gentle giants" of the wasp world.

It almost seems like a cruel evolutionary joke just how outmatched the cicadas are by them.
