The Masters

Not really a golf fan, but these are nice scenes. Good to see a black American man being cheered by a white crowd in Trump's US.

Would have wanted a tighter finish, whoever won, & was on till a few holes from the end.

Was a bit of a procession thereafter

Don't watch much golf but delighted Tiger has won. I look forward to all the OTT stuff on him over the coming days especially on SSN.

Alternatively people are cheering a serial adulterer and fucking weirdo in Trump's US. Par for the course.

Tiger's a cunt, a bloody good golfer and this is a fantastic comeback. I don't think he's played that well today. Both Molinari and Koepka made mistakes. Woods had no hand in them but he had shown brilliant mental strength.

True, though i don't like to judge too much on the moral side of things.

Tiger is an absolute legend of the game. That is one of the greatest sporting moments ever without a doubt, what a comeback to do what he's done with all that he's gone through.

Absolutely agree with you, Slink. Absolutely astonishing to get back to that level of performance

Nope. He is what he is. A tremendous golfer and fair play. I wanted anyone but him to win as we will now never he the end of it and all the shite stuff will get brushed under the carpet once again.

He is no legend. Nicklaus is a legend. Tiger isn't worthy of even carrying his bag.

Hasn't Nicklaus made racist remarks in the past? He gets a pass, but Tiger doesn't?

Not at all.

I play golf and it never fails to appall me that a game I like to play has the ability to attract utter cunts to play the game. I've been at clubs where women and players of colour have different entrances which disgusted me. The members of one of those clubs we're undoubtedly the biggest arseholes I've ever encountered.

It seems the sport attracts these wankers. Much like football attracts mindless thugs.

I'm going back to ignoring golf, seems simpler.

Astonishing victory for Tiger considering where he was both physically and mentally a short time ago. Fair play to him.

DJ got me some cash for finishing joint 2nd. Fleetwood no where.

kinda interesting observing the reaction to this. legend of the game makes a comeback that wasn't on the cards for years.

yet comments are thrown about that he's a vile human being, people dislike him, he doesn't deserve it, he's been unfaithful to his wife etc etc.

Can't help but wonder if his ethnicity is part of the reason for this? How many serial adulterers, addicts, and vile human beings do football fans cheer on every week. Hell, it's common knowledge footballers gang up on girls commonly, and pass them around, and share footage. Recent stories have been in the press confirming cricketers do similar. People have cheered on Tony Adams, Ched Evans, Lee Hughes. We cheered on Ebanks Blake even whilst under investigation by the police for speeding/drink driving.

How may CEOs are vile people, yet get MBE's and more.

I'm not saying race is the cause, but I can't help wondering what level of unconscious bias there is.

It would be lazy to blame race. A read of the ESPN article should dispel that.

Standard behaviour when a person dominates a sport. Whilst having a shit ton of fans they will also have a shit ton of haters.

The moment his personal life became very public and he crumbled under the pressure of it the hating side had their day. To then see him not only recover from his personal issues but also battle physical conditions that should have ended his career the haters will hate that little bit more.

He is very much a legend at his sport. His actions and behaviour away from the game may tarnish his reputation but in solely golfing terms and with 15 majors he is a legend.

I don't like him on a personal level. Doesn't take away from his achievements though.

Fair to say I don't have a lot of time for Maradona but you'd be crazy to refuse to acknowledge his genius on the football pitch.

I don't know Jacob Rees-Mogg on a personal level, I'm pretty sure he's an absolute whopper though.

Yeah, I highly doubt anyone is commenting on him because of his race. He's just not a very likable character.

Still an incredible golfer, though - and you don't see comebacks like that very often/ever.

Fully agree with that - you don't have to like the man to accept that he is fairly good at this sport.

Would have rather had a really tight finish where you couldn't predict who would win, rather than him doing so unless he ballsed up or one of the others in contention did something spectacular.
