The Tennis Thread

Money will come but I’m pretty sure most really successful sports stars are motivated far more by winning.
Hence why I said in my post “Not that it is what matters to her I’m sure”… 🙄

To a young player just starting on tour an early big pay day is a huge thing. Although she does have sponsorships they would have been at quite low rates and the cost of coaching travel accommodation etc etc just to stay on tour are quite high.

And I put Laura Robsons prize money from an 11 year career as a comparator to show how amazingly well Emma has done so early.

I hope I’m wrong, and she clearly has the talent and mentality, but I have a worrying feeling that this might be a match too far for her tonight.

Looking forward to watching it though. I believe she can do it.
I agree, she can. She’s just played an awful lot of matches to get this far and my internal worrier is telling me that eventually that will catch up with her. Hopefully I’m wronger than wrong.

Put channel 4 on and it obviously just a feed of the Prime footage. Impressive selection of pundits. Always good to hear from Martina Navratilova. Now she could play a bit!

Huge moment with an early break for Raducanu after a game that lasted about a year.

This match is going to go back and forth all night I think. Nothing to choose between the 2.

Both have played the big points in their previous matches so well that it should be a good watch to see which of them comes out on top when it gets to the business end of the set.

This is a staggeringly high level of tennis.

This is a phenomenal match. These 2 could dominate women’s tennis for years to come.

The quality of the groundstrokes is something else. Absolutely phenomenal.

Great point at 40-30, probably would have been 3 winners against other players.
