Wolves 0-0 Ipswich - verdict thread

100 years! First of all, Leicester City were in League 1 6 or 7 years ago. Second, nobody at Wolves is talking about winning the Premier League. Winning a few games now and then will do me just fine.
Mentioning the "heady days of the 50s, 60s, and 70s" implies a high league finish, possibly as champions. And anyway Leicester doing it does not make it more likely for us or any other lower leagur club to do it. The odds remain miniscule, even if Leicester have beaten them.

100 years may be melodramatic but I think you're more reasonable than some in your expectations.

I taught my stepson how to play Wake Up Dead by Megadeth while it was on. That was positive.

Its a bang average squad. The best players are injured, it lacks depth and the one good point is that it could improve as the players are so young However as long as Jackets tactics set them up so negatively especially at home we are more likely to struggle to stay in the league than knock on the premier leagues door. Sorry. Lots of money wasted I am afraid

We have some decent players, we simply have no desire from the coach to do F all with them.

I think we have a bunch of average championship players who'll have one fantastic game every four or fives. By all accounts today three of our players hardly touched the ball and we didn't have a shot until sixty minutes. He has tried every permutation possible except ALF and Mason. Our best midfielder is left on the bench. There are more than a few players in our squad who cannot even do the basics. There is a reason we are where we are ...... Moxey, Thelwell and Jackett. It wouldn't surprise me if Siggy gets a new contract ..

Found it pretty funny that Helan spent the whole game no further than 10 yards in from the touch line at all times. Regardless of whether the opposite winger was crossing it in or the play was on the other side.

Not sure what I think is worse, the fact that this could have been his decision or instruction

Must be mad to have paid that much to have watched that today.

Aiki-the deal was clearly of greater importance than the match.

Very little happened - at any point. Price & Hause were the pick of the team but that's not saying that much

I thought Helan played alright today, to be fair. Though he's obviously not the long term answer.

Sigurdarson was absolutely dreadful. Mason down the middle and Zyro out wide for the rest of the season please, Kenny.

What was worse was when Helan went off and all players (bar the Ipswich keeper) were in 1 quarter of the pitch! This happened a couple of times, whilst Helan isn't the answer he does at least offer some form of width and outlet.

I'm buzzing at getting a replica of my first ever shirt for less than a bottle of pop! Cheers for the merchandise cash Jez!

What is wrong with that? Winger being a winger?

Well if he comes inside and attacks the back post he could have scored. Or come inside and picked up the ball could have created something or got a shot away.

He was still out there when we lost the ball, so must have been instruction, basically playing as a striker. That makes our most attacking outlet a shit left back.

That's what happens when you play Saville on the left. Should Have been Zyro out wide from the start. He is not a striker!!

Quartering or halving the pitch is a defensive tactic, reducing space to play and forcing your opponents to lose the ball. Conversely this also restricts your play unless you can achieve width by springing your wide players and full backs at pace. A quick look at Wolves team reveals Henry, Zyro, Sigurdarson, Doherty, Price, Saville and Coady - all of them blessed with same pace as a cone.

Jackett employing the wrong players in the wrong system again. This season is a mess and all should be ashamed of themselves.

Interesting stat from the Liverpool vs Spurs game.
Eric Dier only made one interception and no tackles yet his positioning prevented Liverpool good ball into the striker.

Dier was at fault for their goal so he wasn't perfect positionally.

Jackett will persist with Zyro up top because he scored a couple initially. By all accounts, he's not a striker but I've given up thinking that Jackett can see the bloody obvious.

We were set up not to concede, and as has been said, not to win. A complete and utter disgrace - I agree with those who say with the personnel we have we should be doing far better then we are, even with the injury list we have at the moment. We were at HOME for Gawd's sake, you just wouldn't have thought it.

Positives? Was inspired to play Football Manager 2016 for this first time this year, starting before the final whistle and carrying on almost all night, and for the first time ever as Wolves Manager I was able to ship out all the rubbish for fees - someone has definitely put major changes in the data engine! And you can find some talent bargains, for no fee or next to nothing, as well as super up-and-comers and established leaders to play every game on season-long loans.

Hmmm. According to KJ that really is a fantasy!

I had diary-dated going to the final game of the season at Molineux, as has been our tradition for the last few years. I seriously wonder whether I should bother now, as it will only assist in encouraging the anti-football mafia in charge of, and managing, our club.

There is a dreadful churning in my stomach with the realisation that KJ will STILL be in charge next season. I've known this feeling before. It's exactly the same as when an elderly relative you've cared for is kept alive by life support. You just hope the universe will do the right thing and let them go... this is cruelty to both KJ and us...

Atrocious game of football. Hard to give a review of it when virtually nothing happened.

Sigurdarson and Helan stood out as pure shite in a sea of shite.

Missus - What was the Wolves score yesterday?
Me - No idea, didn't check. Don't care.

I hate what I have become, few hours have passed since then and thought I would come read this thread, 2 pages long and very minimal detail as seems it was a standard day at the office for us. Those that keep turning up to these matches have my upmost respect. Going to be a season without going to a match I reckon for me, had considered going to Leeds or Forest away, mainly as never been to either ground but think I would rather save the money, and choose not to go to Wednesday despite it being 20 mins for me as had already lost interest by then.
