Wolves 2 - 0 Blackpool - The verdict

The Steve Bull upper didn't mess up their lines Parkin and from the Billy Wright upper the South Bank looked and sounded amazing. A truly memorable day and the final five minutes more than made up for the somewhat frustrating 85 minutes before it. Maybe the occasion got to the players as it seemed a little flat first half but they kept going and got their just rewards in the end.

The game wasn't great but Blackpool set up for a 0-0 draw. At no stage did they threaten us. It's like any game that England play against a San Marino / Kazakhstan type team...They have no intention of playing to win and just to stifle. As soon as we scored they pushed out and we battered them. Scored a second and could of got a third. As soon as Afobe came on it opened up for us. VLP, Dicko and Afobe started to find space and cause them problems

An important 3 points in the end, everyone in the top 8 won except Derby so good that we kept on the heels of the playoff places. Very winnable game next week against Charlton too.

Some good video's going up on twitter. Otto has just posted a full video of the whole pre-match tributes. I have posted a few also from in the southbank. For those who couldn't make it.

We were lucky. JOH best player on the pitch.
Stand by my earlier comment. Thought we were awful and were lucky not to be 1-0 down at half time.

What a load of rubbish.

As anyone who's met me off here can attest to, I chat some amount of shite when I'm drunk and I was fucked yesterday. :icon_lol:

Kept on drinking on the train as far as Preston with a group of Blackpool fans so that explains that.

I thought our back 4 were superb yesterday even though Blackpool didn't try very hard to score, I'd probably give them a collective MOTM, although as Paddy said Iorfa probably the best of the bunch. He's an absolute beast, it's great fun to watch him run at his opposing full back.

Price and McDonald were neat and tidy but lacked the final through ball for most of the match. Was a bit disappointed with the two of them tbh, as YW said the stats probably show that they had a good game passing the ball around but there was no willingness to try something different. Blackpool were fine with us passing around in front of them we needed to have a run at them or have a shot from range, anything to take them out of their comfort zone and I didn't see that coming from Price & Macca. It wasn't until the introduction of Afobe and a change of shape that they started to really threaten and in the end it was a gorgeous through ball by Price to van La Parra that finally unpicked the lock for the first goal.

Henry looked poor but I thought van La Parra had a good game. Some encouraging signs that he's starting to adapt to English football, he's starting to make the right decisions and has provided some crucial assists this season. I always thought he'd come good given a run of games and that looks to be the case here. Strange with Henry as I thought this game would suit him and he was excellent vs Blackburn but he was never in it and from all accounts had a poor game vs Fulham as well. Really poor time for him to be losing form as well, with Sako away at ACON now is his chance to try and nail down that starting place for the rest of the season.

No Dave No Disco. I don't quite know what he was doing for his chance in the first half. How can he score a goal like he did against Fulham in the snow without falling on his arse but gets his feet so wrong for his missed sitters vs Blackpool and Blackburn? He's got 4 in 2 1/2 games but should have had 6. Or 5 and an assist if he'd have passed it to Nouha for an open goal. The introduction of Afobe opened up holes in Blackpool's defence and he popped up in the right place to bundle it home. Didn't look like the cleanest finish from way up n the North Bank but they all count. Top celebration for him.

Frustrating game for Nouha as he had 2 or 3 defenders all over him for 60 minutes. Like the rest he looked much better when Afobe came on but really should've had a goal when Edwards fluffed his lines instead of passing to him.

Afobe looks top class. We didn't look threatening at all until he came on and changed the game. Intelligent movement, classy first touch, fast and powerful. His goal scoring record this season has been phenomenal and a goal on his debut will have done his confidence the world of good even if it was an open goal. I'm sure that he'll score a hell of a lot of goals for us and could be the signing to really push us on into the thick of that play-off/automatic mix. Very happy with him.

I did think that JOH played well though. Didn't waste what little possession they were afforded and played some lovely passes, he's got cracking vision. Clearly wasted as a defensive midfielder though, he can't run, doesn't tackle and still does his finger pointing bollocks.

Fair play mate :icon_lol:

O'Hara can certainly pass a ball, and KJ was spot on about his set pieces which were very good too. But defensively he offers so little it's scary and he looked knackered by the start of the second half.

Mouth-watering prospect up front when we get Sako back we can field a front four of Sako Dicko Afobe RvLP

Awesome videos thanks for sharing

Did pretty well for not being able to see. (migraine) Glad i stuck it out tho. What an emotional day. The video on the RIP Sir Jack Thread I've posted from Otto is good too. Got emotional again this morning watching it. Great Day.

I was unable to make the game yesterday but I am disappointed with Afobe tbh........ I had 1-0 Dangerous Dave first scorer and Afobe cost me £31!

Afobe and Nouha could be a mouthwatering strike force with their pace!

Brilliant Jimmy, thanks for that was like i was there for a minute or two.

How would we fit them both in? Somebody would have to make way. With Edwards current goal scoring form could we possibly drop him?

IKEME
Iorfa Stearman Batth Golbourne

Price McDonald

Sako.......................RVLP

Afobe Dicko

That does look quite menacing!

Ikeme

Iorfa Batth Stearman Golbourne

McDonald Price

van La Parra Edwards Sako

Dicko

That's our best possible team IMO with some very good back ups (Kuszczak, Hause, Afobe, Henry, Evans) who are pushing them close and probably unlucky to miss out.
