Words Fail Me

I'd just read that, thought it was a bit odd the club was asking supporters to find their statue to one of its greatest benefactors?

Nothing like getting your clients to fund a statue to your philanthropist former owner.

Shows just how much the club actually cares about this statue. Morgan could easily afford 250,000, the club could easily afford it, asking the fans to crowdfund this just smacks of tinpot, and shows just where we are in terms of the gulf between the club and fans.

Wasn't it suggested by a rep at the FP that the fans could fund a statue around the time of his death? Cynical Jez has run with the idea but released the information about the project itself and the funding of it separately

It was. Glad they've eventually listened to a fan at the FP...

Probably exploiting the 'he's one of our own' chant that accompanies every home game nowadays.

Yes, that is what I read. Steve Galloway made the suggestion. Though personally I thought the club would have paid for the statue. Are Wolves really that hard up?

I don't know the value of the estate he left but I would imagine it was a fair wedge.
You'd have thought the beneficiaries of his will would want to make a donation.

No but its just another O.G from the club on P.R

1 x Fan suggests it - Club think "so thats what all the fans want us to do" and run with it.

Better idea would have been for the club to pay the £250k (or 1 Golbourne if you will) and...well nothing else. Just fooking pay it.

When the fan suggested it, and another fan supported his idea, it gave the club the perfect opportunity to say they were just following the wishes of supporters. But yes you are right. Wolves should just pay for the statue.

And how many other suggestions have they taken forward from FP?

So if one fan suggests making all tickets £20 and another agrees, the club will say "that's a good idea" and impliment it?
Don't think so.
Just fuck off Wolves! They really know how to stick the boot in to the fans

They really know how to stick the boot in to the fans

They have no idea they are doing it though.

Whoever does the thinking at Wolves needs to stop doing it out loud.

Levying the cost of a statue onto the clubs supporters really is a new low. It's utterly shameless.

I thought the club handled the immediate aftermath of SJH's death well and the Blackpool game was a touching occasion. Since then though with the renaming of the stand against his wishes, not having the good grace to let the family of Jack Harris know before announcing it and now this, they have shown to be classless

Great move Wolves. You tacky, tinpot, appalling fuckers.

I actually thought it was a wind up when I first read this somewhere else this morning.

The one thing I'd say is that £250,000 seems a hell of a lot for a statue. Really good standard public works of art come in at around £50,000 in my experience. Even allowing for materials, casting etc that seems a very high figure
