The 2015/2016 Summer Improvement Thread

Wages will be too high.

Zubar's wages were too high for Ajaccio and Foley's were too high for Copenhagen. But they both went.

If he only has six months left on his contract with Newcastle I would expect a similar payoff and release deal.

Depends what he wants then - just get money or ply his trade for a bit less (though much more than any of us are on)

Apparently trying to sign Dominic Vose from Wrexham. 21 year old attacking midfielder.

Rotherham & Blues interested as well.

Oh good...Another attacking midfielder to sit in our reserves while Dave Edwards plays every match

Sucks to be Jed Wallace right now...

Vose has been around the lower leagues a bit hasn't he? And as Darlo suggests, what is the point of yet another attacking midfielder? How many goals would Jed Wallace have scored for Wrexham? (More than Dave Edwards, I suspect...)

The strange thing about it is if we've decided that Jed Wallace isn't good enough (yet), that the No.10 position still needs to be improved upon (it does) and that we can only realistically afford to take a chance on a young lower league player, then we should be going in for Bradley Dack. He's the same age and a standout player in the league below ours rather than 3 leagues below.

I imagine the bigger gamble on Vose would be significantly cheaper than Dack though? Considering money's already been spent fruitlessly on the likes of Coady and Wallace this season then there perhaps isn't much cash lying around to try and remedy the mistakes.

Stop it, thats far to sensible a suggestion..

Vose is out of contract at the end of the season so he'd cost next to nothing. There's skint and there's not being able to sign Bradley Dack levels of skint though. We've still got money from the Stearman sale hanging around surely?

Wolves will have outgoing transfers in January to cover spending on players such as Dack.

Who knows what the Stearman money was allocated to, may have already been put to use covering some of the summer transfer business. You'd have to think there'll be a decent premium on Dack at the moment though, Gillingham don't appear to have any financial troubles and with things going well on the pitch too there seems little reason for them to consider a sale of their star player.

How can we possibly have decided Wallace isn't good enough? On that logic we'll soon decide that Byrne isn't good enough. As we're clearly not going up this season we may as well give Byrne and Wallace a run in the team. Or are we still hoping Edwards will morph into the Championship's standout #10? And yes, Bradley Dack obviously - but that's far too sensible for our current recruitment policy...

Same as Jacobs last season, a grand total of 0 starts in his actual position, while Edwards stinks the place out week after week.

He may not be, but if not, why was he bought in the first place ?
Also he hasn't had too much game time to show what he can do.

He's had months of training to prove his worth, it's not like Saturday afternoon is the only time he steps onto a pitch, if he can't even get himself into the matchday squad then there must be a reason for it.
