The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

Jeez... how the UK doesn't rebel is beyond me... I'm at 325 down and 289 up.

Luckily I've had Virgin Media for rhe last few years and Gigabit internet speeds.

You've not lived until you've seen your download speed hit 100Mbps +

This Zzoomm they installed round here gets me 200ish mb. More than adequate for what I use, certainly when it used to be around 30 through the old BT cables. Think I can get more power but seems unnecessary, wouldn’t give me any benefit for the additional expense. 6mb is a joke though. That’s like 2005 speeds

Been considering BRSK full fiber as opposed to the current FTTC Virgin line, but my partner doesn't like the sound of the TV box that they offer. With WFH I worry about jumping from the frying pan into the fire too

Had a few issues with Virgin lately (first ever tbh) and quickly realised how useless they are when that happens!

SNR and downstream post RS errors if anyone is nerdy! Which I think are causing issues with an ancient piece of software I have to use, over a VPN. From what I gather you probably wouldn't usually notice it, but the packet loss is enough for my system to throw a fit.

Blimey I haven't heard about SNR and downstream errors since I used to admin my old Netgear router when I was still connecting to the box in the road and my local telephone exchange.

Well it's mainly me diagnosing the issue myself as VM haven't been a fat lot of help so far. I'll be buying a key and going in the green box myself at this rate :ROFLMAO:

So, pissed off to start with but really happy now...

I mentioned here that I was the Wing shooting officer last year but 5 months in, the Wing Commander who appointed me was suspended for vague reasons and a temp put in place. After a couple of months he was cleared but not put back in post and a month later the temp was made full time boss. He then decided that all Wing staff must reapply for their posts, me included. Anyway, long story short, I was unsuccessful and the new shooting officer?? The former Wing commander!

I went back to my old Sqn but made it clear I wasn't happy to just be Sqn staff and I wanted my own Squadron. I was asked to look after a nearby squadron, Richmond "for two to three months" in December last year and am still running it now. However, in the last month or so the OC at Northallerton has got a Wing position and has stood down. Last night I was interviewed for that post and found out that I'd been successful and will be the new officer commanding the squadron that I was a cadet, at many years ago!

I've offered to keep on top of the admin for Richmond until the return of their OC in the next month or so and will take command at Northallerton when I get back from taking a team of cadets to Bisley for the final Cadet target rifle shoot before the rifle is taken out of service.

A couple of busy weeks ahead but absolutely buzzing to be the new OC of the squadron I've always wanted to run
