Wolves 2-3 Everton - verdict thread.

Yeah it was shambolic today but play Arias on the right, Lopez further left, keep JSL, swap Toti for Krejci. Maybe Mosquera for Agbadou.
Whole thing might (I stress might) look a whole lot better.
Keep persisting with line ups and performances like today and Vitor will be gone.
Hope he can sort it.

Agba needs time out. Id be going:

SA
Jackson - Mosquera - Krejci - Wolfe
Rodrigo - Gomes - Andre - Lopez
Arias
JSL

Yep that sides still going down I think.
Getting the starting lineup right turns us into a 25-30 point a season side and going down.
Getting wrong turns us into a 15 point a season side.
Unless our new signings turn into PL quality and a bit over the international break.

Incredibly down after watching that performance. Just so much lacking in every department and the manager looks like he’s losing any idea and has clearly fallen out with Andre.

For me its simple.

Bad preseasson, trying use all time same player and tactics like last seasson. dont test new things.

Big sells, important player but coach dont say anithing about sign good player.

The seasson starts and don know if the new player are good or bad, because all sign too late..

R. Gomes all time show nice things, seem great player but all time start in the bench.

Muntesi play in a strange position to that type of player... i think is good player but that position its worn. For me he its a DMF or CM.

Discussing it today I likened us back to when QPR sold Les Ferdinand. Was the type of quality player they ultimately won't going to replace and so spent the money on multiple areas. But without his goals, quality and aura in the team they utterly fell apart and just got worse and worse as the season went on (granted it was the season after as they sold him in like Feb/March) and that just highlighted all the other weaker parts.

We haven't come close to replacing what Cunha, and Ait-Nouri were offering us, worse once you add in Semedo, and we haven't tried to replace them with near like for like it seems.

I think we have to hope that something clicks, it might be by accident rather than design.
Trying to stay optimistic.
End of the day, their third was a blinding finish and we SHOULD have had a penalty.

I'm disappointed at the result but I just can't find the effort to blame the players - no matter what's been spent on them we know they're not good enough on the whole. Even VP, yeah some of the tactics and formations are strange but again, see what he's had to work with and it's clear we've had a recruitment process that's all over the place. Whether Hobbs deserved being removed (he did) the timing was terrible, almost the worst possible time given how much business needed doing.

In the scenario we're still in bottom 3 come Dec/Jan and a new manager is hired what do we expect them to do that VP/Teti can't with this team?

And it all points upwards, we know this is all the result of Fosun's "direction" for the last 5 years or so.

Its just all confusion or resignation at this stage. Sasha looked ok but we have Arokodare coming in to be backup ST if JSL stays? So wouldn't that money be better spent on the defence? Midfield? Getting some creativity anywhere on pitch?

Same things said in 2004 & 2012, Everton should’ve been out of sight by the time they got their 3rd.
Everton always had the ability to beat us today no matter what we did.
The gulf in class reminded me of how out our depth we were in the 03/04 season.

Agree, we look quite a way behind a transitional team like Everton, let alone small and competent clubs like Bournemouth...let alone the genuine big hitters in the league.

Promoted teams also picking up the odd point in the first few games too. All very worrying

Yeah singing another forward for a load of cash who in all likelihood will be bang average just seem bonkers

We would probably have been better off buying a £40m Cunha replacement rather than a couple of cheap options and then inexplicably throwing £50m at Krejci and Arokodare.

We seem to be basically filling our first XI and squad just with squad players (at best)
