Arsenal 1-2 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Well happy with that
Neto MOTM closely followed by Podence
Moutinho is back to his old self
Defence looked ok without being spectacular
Semedo looks great on the ball
Marcal solid and steady
Donck below par but didn't stop running
Silva did well and will continue to learn
Rui didn't have a lot to do

Really impressed going forward. Not too impressed defensively, but if it frees us up to go forward like that I will take it.

Fabio was excellent, as was Mouts, Neto, Traore, and Podence

So proud of this team. To put on that performance after such an horrific injury to one of their team mates is unbelievable.

Everyone was brilliant I thought tonight, but special mentions to Coady, Moutinho, Neto, Podence and Silva. Silva showed some great touches and movement, a bit rough round the edges but a player there.

One minor quibble, there was a number of times they overloaded Semedos side and you ended up with three Arsenal players against Semedo and Moutinho !

Rui had zero saves to make second half! Yes it was nervous the last 15 but we were solid

For all Neto's running at the end I think it was more to the detriment of the team overall, if it's going through to the opposition keeper in the last 5 minutes or so when you're defending a lead then just let him have it, drop back into your defensive shape and get your breath back. Half the time he was just sprinting up there alone and a simple pass from Leno took him straight out of the game giving Arsenal a numerical advantage, sometimes you need to work smarter not harder.
Maybe once or twice but Traore was just waiting for the ball to come to him, generally Neto worked to close players down.

Once again, didn't manage to watch anything from the match. Damned work. Don't think I've seen one full match this season, from either Wolves or Benfica.

Great result! What's the general opinion on Silva tonight? @Dublin Drummer Wolf mentioned him being a good pair with Neto tonight, but I've seen people bashing him.

Here's hoping nothing serious happened to Raul. He's a tough lad.

We were fine defensively - I can't remember Rui making a save.

I'd say the Silva bashers are expecting a £35m striker instantly, which he isn't right now. There is enough potential there for me to be happy with him though

Silva did well @jdrodrigues - his link play was excellent and he worked hard, put some good passes in to create opportunities. Looks lightweight and needs to put on some weight and muscle because he didn’t win much in the air, but he’s only 18, that will come

Silva was great tonight. If I didn't know he was 18 I would have pinned him as much older based off his performance today.

Silva linked up really well w Neto and Traore, and on another day could have had a goal or two.
Definitely starting to show his potential

They definitely had a few decent chances. Two or three headers, and some last ditch defending.
Aubameyang header was the real chance for them, I thought it was in. Apart from that they slung a lot of balls into the box second half that we dealt with

One player pressing alone is a waste of time, it's what this Wolves team is really built on and particularly when reverting to three at the back shape is the key to the defensive strength. Going 40 yards up the pitch chasing the ball amongst multiple opposition players is a largely fruitless endeavour, sapping energy and disrupting the defensive shape.

Thought the forward line got less effective with both late substitutions, both in and out of possession.

Both Roy Keane & JFH saying it should have been a penalty on Traore.
Still don't understand why VAR let that one go or didnt ask the ref to have another look.
